The Scholastic Book Fair is coming!
We are very excited to be able to hold an in-person fair for our students the week of Friday, November 6th - Friday, November 13th. The book fair is only open to students during their library time. Students may bring cash but using the Scholastic E-Wallet is highly preferred. Please visit the link to our Scholastic Home Page for information on how to set up an E-Wallet and how to shop online. We are working on having a couple of shopping days after school for Middle School students. More information will be coming soon.

Board Vacancy: Nominations Due Today
The CCA Board of Directors Vacancy Committee is soliciting nominations for one open board position. Vacancies occur on the Board most often when a member leaves the school or is unable to continue to serve due to personal or professional reasons.

A vacancy is different than an open election. CCA Board members serve three-year terms. A vacancy is tied to the exiting board member’s term length. The new board member will serve out the remainder of the vacating member’s term, which in this instance is until June 2022.

If you are interested, please click here to complete the Nomination Form. This vacancy will fulfill the remaining term until June 2022.

You are also welcome to click here to submit questions to the Vacancy Committee. Click here to download the Board Frequently Asked Questions document. The Timeline for the Vacancy Committee Process is as follows:
  • October 26, 2020: Call for Nominations
  • November 2, 2020 at 5:00 PM: Nominations Due
  • Vacancy Committee Review Process Begins
  • Committee Recommends Top Candidate to the Board
  • Upon Recommendation, Board Votes on Final Candidate at Next Meeting

Thank you,

Vacancy Committee

Joanne Jordan - Board Representative
Bill Baumgartner - School Accountability Committee Member
Rebecca Rook - PTO Representative
Dave Loomis - Dean of Students, CCA Representative
Board Committees

CCA holds monthly Committee meetings, tailor-made to engage our CCA community in conversations about a whole variety of topics...
  • Do you have a great idea or a special skill?
  • Are you looking to offer your volunteer hours where you have a particular interest or expertise?
  • Would you enjoy an open discussion with members of the Parent Board, Administration, and CCA Community about an issue that's important to you?

We'd love to have you join us at a CCA Committee Meeting!  CCA Committee Meetings are the BEST way to participate in active discussions about the "big-picture" issues that are near-and-dear to your heart. In addition to Committee-level projects, the work done by CCA Committees refines and prepares those issues brought to the Board as formal Action Items. Parent volunteer hours are available for attending committee meetings, and for participating in committee work.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate in Committee discussions!

Weekly Spotlight: Governance Committee

The Governance Committee helps the CCA Board provide oversight that complies with our Charter, bylaws and contract with Cherry Creek School District by maintaining, updating and initiating policies and procedures related to Cherry Creek Academy and the CCA Board. It also acts as the Board liaison to the School Accountability (SAC) Committee. Please click here for Governance Committee Agendas and Minutes.

Anyone interested in participating in Committee Meetings can refer to the CCA Master Calendar for dates and times, or click here for more information.

Donations Wanted: Show Your Gratitude for Our Amazing Teachers
Each year our PTO Hospitality Committee creates Thanksgiving baskets for our teachers to show how grateful our community is for them.

With COVID, our PTO has made some adjustments and is asking for a five dollar donation from each CCA family in order to gift a small Harry and David basket to CCA's amazing teachers.

Please Venmo, Natalie Sourial, our PTO Hospitality Chair.

You may also send cash in an envelope with your youngest child's name and teacher to the CCA front office. Please put PTO Hospitality on the front of your envelope.

All donations should be received no later than November 13. 2020.
Highlights from Last Week
Last week was another great week here at CCA. We started our week with a snow day on Monday that left a winter wonderland on our field for Tuesday. Bundled up students enjoyed the cool weather and built snowmen.

In 3rd grade, students completed a fun new activity with Mrs. Peterson. This watercolor project helped students understand perspective and spacing in art. Students put their knowledge of shading into practice as they illustrated their pictures of teddy bears in corners. Mrs. Peterson also incorporated literacy concepts into this lesson and her students were treated to a read aloud of A Pocket for Corduroy.

Middle school students participated in the plank challenge with Ms. Rutz in P. E. She is requesting that students submit a picture of themselves and family members participating in the challenge by November 6th.
