W. F. West students participate in
Forestry Competition
Congratulations to Chehalis Future Farmers of America (FFA) Team for participating in the annual Gray's Harbor Forestry Competition on October 26. Congratulations to FFA Chapter’s Hayden Soukup and Lauryn Young on placing 4th and 6th place!

Grays Harbor College put on their annual forestry competition in Satsop, where the college manages forested land around the Satsop Nuclear Power Plant. Seven teams competed from around western Washington. The Chehalis teams experienced all aspects of the Forestry contest including:
  • Tree ID,
  • Chainsaw parts ID,
  • Map Interpretation,
  • Pests and Tree Disorders,
  • Equipment Identification,
  • Compass and pacing, and
  • Timber Cruising.

While at the college, students were able to meet professors of the Forestry Department and learn about the program and the profession.
