For those of you that played in our recent President's prize you may have seen the beautiful new perpetual trophy that was on display. President Therese Mc Cormack and her husband Tom gifted this to the club to mark our Centenary Year.
This trophy comes from an English firm known as Hukin & Heath (1855-1953) and was established by Johnathan Wilson Hukin and John Thomas Heath as manufacturing silversmiths and electroplaters. They entered silver marks in London in 1879, by which time they had established showrooms at 19 Charterhouse Street, Holborn. The showrooms were described as “redolent of art”, while the art works were produced without increasing the cost, exhibiting “grace combined with the useful, simplicity and purity form with readiness of application to the purposes to which they are to be applied”. Their mark was H&H with an eagle.
This stunning trophy dates from 1901 and will be presented to the male and female winners of the President's prize each year. Congratulations to the first two winners who will have their names recorded on the trophy Bernadette Aird and Niall Collins
