Volume 10 | July 31st 2021
Greetings!

On 1st July we celebrated our Inauguration Day with a fantastic fun day of golf. The 278 members who played were treated to lots of surprises on the course and all around the clubhouse was beautifully decorated. There was a Vintage Sweet Stand on the 1st Tee, a Vintage Ice Cream stand on the 5th Tee, a scrumptious BBQ and drinks at the 9th Tee, Dessert Stand on the 14th and a Vintage camera on the 15th where all members had their photo taken and were given a souvenir picture to take home.

The best surprise was kept until last when at the back of the 18th Green all members were presented with our fabulous Centenary Book which is a true celebration of our 100 Years of golfing on Bull Island. Huge thanks have to go to our fellow member, Dick O Riordan and his team for this beautiful production.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to making this day a wonderful success. There was such a happy atmosphere all around the course and clubhouse. It was great to see so many smiling happy faces after the tough 16 months we have all had. There is no doubt about it, the spirit of St. Anne’s just keeps growing stronger.

Enjoy your golf and keep well,

Audrey Headon

CENTENARY REFLECTIONS IN THE COMPANY OF PRESIDENT THERESE MCCORMACK, HER FATHER BRIAN DUNNE, BROTHER PETER DUNNE AND HUSBAND TOM MCCORMACK
A special video this month as we hear from the Dunne/McCormack clann. President Therese, her father Brian, brother Peter and husband Tom share some of their memories of times at the course and clubhouse over the years. Many thanks to all for participating and once again a big thank you to Matthew Walsh for editing this video.

FROM THE IRISH TIMES ARCHIVES 31ST JULY 1921
Golfing staycations were certainly in vogue in 1921, with people flocking to seaside resorts and enjoying the beautiful links courses they boasted. As we enjoy all Ireland has to offer this year, including the recent fabulous weather, it makes you think they had the right idea 100 years ago!

CENTENARY BOOK
The Council and Centenary Committee are delighted to gift each member a copy of our recently published Centenary Book. Your copy can be collected from the office.

We hope you enjoy this beautiful book that gives so much information about not just St. Anne’s G.C. and its origins but also, its many members, its victories over the years, the flora and fauna of the island as well as so much more.
FRIENDS IN GOLF
We were honoured to receive this beautiful commemorative silver plate from our good friends at Sutton Golf Club on the occasion of St. Anne’s Centenary Year.

Pictured below is Sutton Vice Captain Derek Hunter presenting the plate to President Therese McCormack and Captain Leo “George” Devitt. Many thanks to Vice Captain Derek and indeed all members of Sutton Golf Club - how fortunate we are to have such wonderful friends in golf close by.
NEW CLOCK
Our new Centenary Clock has been made possible through the generosity of our fellow member Mary Rose O’Flaherty and funds raised from The Joker. We would like to extend our thanks to Mary Rose and to everyone who played The Joker.
