National Nonprofit Day is held annually on August 17, is a day dedicated to recognizing the efforts of nonprofit organizations and the impact they have on local communities. About 10% of Chamber members are nonprofits and each play a crucial role in meeting the unmet needs in our community.

Fundraising and marketing consultant Jayme Dingler, who created What’s Good Wednesdays, a social media newsletter that offers an in-depth look at local nonprofits, commented, “Here on the Mid-Shore, in our tiny little corner of the world, there are well over 1,000 nonprofit organizations whose work often goes unnoticed because they’re solving problems we may not even realize exist in our community.” She added, "Nonprofits touch just about every facet of our lives here on the Shore, and we may not even know it. They should be celebrated every day, but especially on Nonprofit Day!"

It's important to recognize National Nonprofit Day because nonprofits fill crucial gaps in services, providing support and resources to the community. If you would like to show your support on National Nonprofit Day, consider donating, volunteering, spreading awareness, partnering as business, organizing a fundraiser or joining a board or committee.
