Aurora Rhythms Concert 2021
Enjoy the great Aurora Weather of late summer listening to live music and enjoying dance performances.
The city of Aurora summer concert for 2021 will take place from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm August 26th at the Aurora Municipal Center Great Lawn, 15051E. Alameda Parkway.
The event will kick off at 5 pm with performances by Aurora Dance Arts, a city of Aurora Cultural Services program, followed by Badda Boom Brass Band. This band is known for bringing the part wherever they go with their infusion of New Orleans street music into an eclectic mix of hip hop, funk, world music and more. So, come ready to dance.
There will be information and activity tables from different city programs and departments including the Aurora Public Library, Aurora Cultural Services, Aurora Water and the Aurora Police Department.
Attendees to this family event are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets, non-alcoholic beverages and food. For more information and updates, visit, AuroraGov.org/Concerts.

"Drosselmeyer's Toy Shoppe & Nutcracker Sweets"
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 health crisis, Aurora Dance Arts is re-imagining the traditional Nutcracker ballet in a fresh perspective which includes multiple styles of dance, such as: ballet, pointe, tap, jazz & contemporary. Dancers involved in the 2021 production of "Drosselmeyer's Toy Shoppe & Nutcracker Sweets" will have the unique opportunity to be part of a brand new production that will be a special ADA twist on the classic holiday tale, all while making sure to keep dancers & staff as safe & healthy as possible.
Casting for this show is by audition only. Auditions are open to dancers, ages 6-20, who have previous dance experience. Dancers involved in the holiday production should be doing ongoing training in dance. Aurora Dance Arts is also excited to announce the return of the Continuous Children’s Dance Program! This comprehensive dance training program affords students the opportunity to train in myriad styles & levels for 9-months, parallel to the school year. Students create characters, dialogue, monologues, scenes & performance pieces based on the themes & book series below with guidance from experienced theatre professionals. Perform for family and friends on the final day of class.

Murder on Danger Island, a Murder Mystery Parody
Strangers trapped on an island. Is there a murderer among them? Become classic murder mystery characters in this original parody. Enjoy a juicy death scene & learn how to play dead. Surprise the audience with plot twists & turns. Requires memorization & outside class work. Performance during final class.
This class is for students ages 10-16 and will be held Sept. 18- Nov 13 (skipping Oct. 16 & 23)

Keyboard Instructor Amy Thorne
Meet our piano & keyboard instructor, Aurora native Amy Thorne. Amy is a lifelong musician who started piano lessons at 7 years old. Amy attended UNC as a Piano Performance Major, graduating with a Bachelor of Music and went onto a master’s program at Drake University. While at UNC and Drake, she studied voice as well, going on to sing with the Opera Colorado Chorus for 7 years. During her musical career, Amy has taught both piano and voice, and also has experience as a vocal soloist, choir director, and accompanist for choirs, voice students, and instrumentalists.
If you are interested in taking a class from Amy keyboards are provided in class, but it is recommended that students have a piano or keyboard at home to practice.
