City Administrator's Message
I want to take a brief opportunity to thank all of you for welcoming me to the City of Saco. As I become better acquainted with the City, I hope to be able to meet with many more citizens, local organizations, and community members in the months to come. I have been extremely impressed with the quality and dedication of our City staff and all that they do daily to provide the best services possible to Saco residents, businesses, and visitors.

My goal as your City Administrator is to continue to work to provide an effective and efficient City government that is responsive to citizen needs. We will continue to enhance Saco while maintaining the aspects we love about it as we accommodate long-term needs. Transparency, accessibility, and communication are also essential, and I will always strive to be available to the public and keep residents informed of current City business and projects.

Always consider my door open to hear any questions or concerns, and I will do my best to help. Saco is a great community, and I am thankful to be part of it.

--Bryan Kaenrath, City Administrator

Water Resource Recovery Department
The City of Saco Water Resource Recovery Department (WRRD) provides services to enhance the public health, comfort, and well-being of the community while protecting the environment and promoting economic development and retention.

As the WRRD looks forward to a changing climate, we have identified strains on the Water Resource Recovery Facility’s (WRRF) resiliency due to flooding impacts from the following factors: sea-level rise, quantity, and quality of wastewater entering the facility and on-site stormwater management.

Watch the video below to learn more about the strains rain, high tide, and snowmelt can have on the treatment plant.
WRRD Director Howard Carter, who has been with the city for 26 years, was given the Founders Award at the New England Water Environment Association Annual Conference on Jan. 29.

The award is given by the NEWEA Executive Committee “in recognition of long term contributions to NEWEA, dedicated service to the industry in any facet of water pollution control, notable achievements or accomplishments in the environmental field or recognition to a renowned individual or individuals,” according to the NEWEA website.

Congratulations, Howard!
