Don't Miss Out on the Collectible 2021 Saco Police Department Pink Patch
Did you know 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer? Or that early detection and treatment can be lifesaving?

Join us in our fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research through the Pink Patch Project.

The Pink Patch Project is an innovative public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer. Through the sale of collectible uniform patches, public safety agencies world-wide are fighting together.

For the 2021 collectable Pink Patch, please visit the Saco Police Department or call (207) 284-4535. Patches are available for $10 each and cash or check payment types will be accepted. All funds raised will be donated locally to the MaineHealth Breast Care Center in Scarborough.
Age Friendly Saco Sandbucket Program Returns
Age Friendly Saco’s “Sandbuckets for Seniors” program is back!

Last month, volunteers from Age Friendly and Thornton Academy distributed buckets of the City’s sand-salt mixture to older residents for use at their homes.

It’s important to keep entryways free of ice and snow, especially in case of an emergency. If entryways are clear, first responders can get access to help more quickly.

If you know someone who could benefit from having a bucket delivered, tell them to contact Age Friendly Saco at (207) 710-5029 between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. If your call is unanswered, please leave a clear voicemail with your name, phone number, and address; you will be added to the delivery list. If you don’t need any sand/salt now, but do later in the wintry season, the same directions apply: Call the Age Friendly office, leave a clear and complete message and a volunteer will bring you a bucket.

We appreciate the support Saco Public Works gives to this important program every year, using their equipment to expedite the initial bucket-filling process.

The weather is getting colder, but that won't stop us from getting outside and enjoying all the natural beauty Saco has to offer.

The Saco Conservation Commission has teamed up with local students to help showcase the city's natural beauty and accessibility. Looking for the best spot in Saco? Get started with our curated map of 16 trails, beaches and parks. The river, beaches, wetlands, forests, and fields are a major draw to our community. Conservation Commission members are passionate about the environment and natural resources, and work to protect, promote, and raise awareness about them by engaging local community members. The Conservation Commission is active with other groups across the State, including The Nature Conservancy, the Saco Bay Land Trust, U.S. Department of Interior - Fish and Wildlife Service, the Maine Association of Conservation Commissions, and many city departments and local groups. Visit the Conservation Commission online here.
