Teacher of the Month

Congratulations to fourth grade teacher Ms. Boyd for being selected as the Germantown Educational Foundation Teacher of the month for March! She will be honored at the BMA meeting on March 22nd.

The Teacher of the Month award recognizes teachers who make a significant difference in the lives of his/her students, the school in which he/she teaches, and the Germantown community. You can access the nomination form HERE.

Parent Input Needed

GMSD wants to understand stakeholders' perceptions of and experiences with district grading policies and practices. Your responses will support GMSD in developing a district statement of purpose as well as in revising current district grading policies.

This study is for research purposes only: all information you provide will be maintained on a confidential basis by Hanover Research and will only be reported to GMSD in an aggregate form, so please be candid in your responses.

For the purposes of this survey, “ grading practices” are defined as the methods used by teachers to arrive at an academic grade that is reported at a quarter or semester. Practices include weighting of student work, procedures for late or missing work, reassessment, or resubmission.

GMSD Stampede 2021

Registration is now open for the 2021 GMSD Virtual 5K and 1 Mile. While we had planned and hoped to have a live 2021 GMSD 5k Stampede and 1 Mile Color Run, it's not in the cards for us again this year. However, we are excited to take our event virtual. Here is how it works....

Early bird registration is $20. After March 18, 2021 the cost of registration will be $25. Students who register early will receive a prize too! There will be no refunds.
When you register, please choose what school you are supporting, and what homeroom teacher your child has. Prizes will be awarded for the most participants at each school and to the classrooms with the most participants too! Parents, grandparents, and friends are counted in this total as long as they put a school and a teacher on their registrations!
We will continue to take registrations up until race day. However, if you register after April 7, your t-shirt size will not be guaranteed.
All 5k runners will be able to submit their virtual time, along with a photo/screen shot of your tracking device to gmsd5kstampede.raceroster.com
T-shirts will be delivered to each participating school on April 14 and 15. For the people registered that are not associated with a school, t-shirt pick-up will be at the Germantown Athletic Club on April 14 and 15 between the hours of 4-7 pm.
Maps of 5K and 1 mile routes will be distributed through school websites, PTO websites, the GEF website, and the Raceroster website. Runners/walkers can choose their own date, time, and route. Times and pictures may be submitted at any time from Friday, April 16 until Sunday, April 18 through the RaceRoster website. Also, QR Codes will be placed at each school or near each route so participants can “check in”.
Please take photos and post to social media with the hashtag #GMSDstampede. Prizes will be awarded to runners with the fastest times!

Board of Education Meeting

The next GMSD Board of Education Meeting will be held on March 9th. The Work Session will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the Business Meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting will be streamed from the GMSD YouTube channel. You can view the agenda prior to the meeting.

HMS Cheer

Support Houston Middle Cheer and stock up on HMS spirit wear! What a great opportunity for rising 6th graders to get a head start on showing their school spirit for next year!
