Recent Updates
A return to yellow involves more things than just a return to masking. The direction from the Conference is to continue to monitor the county numbers and make changes as needed. If the positive case number is over 5% we should follow all of the yellow protocols. At this time(10/1), Crow Wing county is at 16%, Cass county is at 14.4%. If you are following along, the numbers change daily, but have not dropped below 10% in quite a while, and this week have actually jumped up quite a bit. As the numbers continue to rise and fall, please prayerfully consider how to keep yourself and those around you safe.
Masking is the easiest thing that we can do. Everyone is still expected to wear a mask within the building please. We are monitoring the county numbers closely and changes may happen rapidly. Please join me in prayer for our local school leaders, teachers, students and families as they deal with tough decisions.

Sunday, October 3rd is World Communion Sunday.

We will be celebrating communion together. This is also a day to receive a special UMC offering to be used for scholarships for U.S. racial and ethnic minority students and international students at both the undergrad and graduate levels. If you are giving to this special offering, please make a note on your gift.
UMW Event
Plan to attend the "Faith and Hobby" sharing event on Thursday, October 7 - 6:30-8:30 PM at Grace. Scripture passages and music will be used to highlight how God has a hand in all we do. Three women will share how their hobby reflects their faith:

Diane Almich - Lovely handmade, personalized greeting cards
Lois Catchpool - Beautiful stained glass art pieces
Lynne Clement - Unique fall flower arrangements
Then everyone will get a chance to create a small sample of each hobby to take home.
We will discover how we are "Knitted Together for all God's good Works" - the theme for UMW in 2021.
A variety of pre-packaged snacks and drinks will be served. At this time masks need to be worn inside the church building.

Please RSVP by October 3rd by signing the form on the table in the Narthex or call:
Marsha Mower (217) 412-8797 or Peggy Johnson (218) 963-3765

Hope to see you there for an evening of fun, faith and fellowship!!

Who is willing to come together to make this fun event for the children in our community happen again this year??
Last year was a huge success. Cars drove through the parking lot where 5 car trunks were decorated for Halloween for families to see while they remained in their cars. Almost 500 bags of candy were handed out!
This year plans will stay the same, BUT before those plans are set, it is necessary to find out how many of you will promise to decorate a trunk. In the past, creations have been mildly spooky and scary fun. Will you decorate a trunk this year? The success of this event is determined by your willingness to participate.
Patti Erickson and Peggy Johnson are the only Outreach Team members available at this time.
Speak to them by Wednesday, October 6 if you will decorate a trunk, want to help them plan, or need more information.  Let's come together, Grace family, to make this fun event happen!

Please extend prayers of happiness and love to Dustyn and Nasha Perrine who were married at Grace on Friday, October 1.
Dustyn is the son of Tim and Jody Perrine.
October is CHURCH EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION MONTH. Our church community is blessed with great staff! The Staff Parish Relations Committee invites you to send notes of encouragement and thanks to our staff.  This past year and a half has not been easy for any of us with the pandemic running rampant and causing our lives to be altered in so many ways. Pastor Jen has led our team of staff and volunteers in incredible ways and we recognize her on Sunday, October 10. The other Grace staff members are Brad Wallace (Director of Music), Jacki Kline (Accompanist), Casey Dirksen (Substitute Accompanist), Ann Hutchings (Administrative Assistant), Joan Oscarson (Treasurer), Barb Wallace (Sound Tech). In addition, we have three "volunteer" staff members - Ardie Morris (Hand Bell Director), Doris Longnecker (Financial Secretary), Jackie Tappe (Assistant Financial Secretary).
We also have a team of incredible volunteers at Grace and should take time to appreciate them every chance we get! Grace is truly blessed by all these people.
