"Reach All-People" Cohort
The Racial Tension in Our Nation Demands a Response
Join the Brand New “Reach All-People” Cohort: The racial tension in our nation demands a response. While many people are continuing to divide over political and ideological lines, the church has the perfect opportunity to bridge the gap that exists between all people. Recently we did a Wednesday Workshop called How to Reach the “Other,” led by Alex Rivero, our Director of All People. Now, EFCA West is excited to offer a six month cohort starting in August that will help you move your church toward an “all people” vision. What is that? Simply this: a thriving church that looks like the people in her community . But how do you really do that? The answer: We do it TOGETHER. This cohort is limited to the first 12 leaders who register. We expect this to fill up quickly so register now!
District Conference

The EFCA West District Conference will be on January 21 and 22 , 2021, at North Coast Church in Vista, California. We are hopeful that this will be an exciting time for leaders and members of EFCA West churches to gather together again to celebrate, collaborate, learn and look to the future together.

Please mark these dates on your calendar and let other leaders in your congregation know as well. To register ahead of time please visit our website efcawest2021.com

EFCA West Celebrations!
Congratulations to Ronn Smith for receiving an overwhelming vote of approval to become the next Senior Pastor of Compass Church in Goodyear, AZ! Ronn and his wife Michele will be relocating from the Chicagoland area, where they planted The Sanctuary Church and served faithfully there for 19 years. The Smith’s have three children: Hannah (20), Paige (16), and Micah (15). Ronn has been an EFCA guy for decades, and EFCA West is excited to welcome the Smiths to our district! Feel free to drop him a note at ronn.smith@compasschurchaz.com .
Decision Making in Angry, Polarized Times
There have been two great overlapping upheavals in our world and in our churches in recent weeks. What to do about COVID19 was hard enough, and then came the issues associated with the needless death of George Floyd at the hands of police and its aftermath. While leaders need to lead well in times of calm, they also need to lead well in their first responses to disruptive, contentious, and tumultuous issues in our communities both in their immediate aftermath and into the future. This i s something to talk about .

Rethinking Normal:
Making the Most of our Golden Opportunity to Start Again
Anxious to get your church back to normal? In his article, Chris Calvert points out four questions we should all be asking as we "restart into a new normal". What is the mission of the church? What are the marks of a disciple at our church? Which ministries are truly effective at making disciples? How do we reengage the new normal at our church?

Chris serves as Church Leadership and Ministry Consultant with Church Assistance Ministry. He is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, and lives in Fresno, California with his wife, Michele. Read his article HERE .

Don't Unknowingly
Jeopardize your Church's
501(c)(3) tax-exempt Status
No one likes to talk about the IRS, but it's necessary. Many church leaders are unaware of what is actually required by law to have and retain the 501(c)(3) status of the church they lead. As our country, states and localities enter into the quadrennial presidential cycle, pastors and church leaders will be urged by others to “say something” or “do something” to support political causes or candidates or distribute voter guides or other materials. It is very important to inform yourself. Read the article HERE .
