Our time together will include a Q&A with our new Nature/Play Consultant Susan Chlebowski and TA Coach Elizabeth Marcello, who will provide an overview of additional coaching options for child care and SACC facilities interested in expanding outdoor learning and/or child-led play. Oral Health & Dental Visit Etiquette

As things begin to resemble "normal life", children's smiles, and their family's, are important to everyone’s well-being. Medical facilities require masks of all people inside, regardless of vaccination status. To adhere to these guidelines, please wear your mask while in the office.

If a patient or anyone in their immediate family has been exposed to someone with a fever, cough, cold, flu-like aches, or fatigue in the last 14 days prior to their appointment, or if they are experiencing any of these symptoms on the day of their appointment, they need to reschedule their appointment.

If you traveled by car to the appointment, you may also be asked to wait in your car. When possible, additional individuals who are not being seen on that day are not brought into the office.

Here are some tips to ensure and maintain good oral hygiene:
  • Eat healthy foods and avoid sugary snacks.
  • Avoid the use of tobacco products.
  • Rinse your mouth with water after meals or chew sugarless gum.
  • Brush your teeth at least twice a day or after every meal.
  • Protect your teeth with a mouth guard when playing contact sports.
  • Use a night guard when you tend to grind your teeth during your sleep.
  • Schedule preventive dental care treatment for your child.
Global Hand Washing Day is October 15

This is an opportunity to have a celebration and review the correct procedure with your children. Hand washing is especially important at the beginning of cold and flu season. You could also teach the children a new hand washing song, maybe in Spanish!

Ideas for classroom activities:
  • Ask the children to draw some pictures of germs, then have the children stick them to the things around them that they frequently touch, or think are particularly germy. This technique allows your children to have a bit of fun with the concept of germs. It portrays a physical trace of where germs can be; they can even stick the germs on each other. It also allows them to use their knowledge and instincts as to why they think certain spots are more prone to germs than others.
  • Try the Glitter Germs activity
  • Fun and Easy 4-Step Handwashing Process
  • Handwashing Song in Spanish
