International Paper: The Pensacola mill hosted a meeting on Thursday with local officials, mill staff, and officers of the Company. Several topics were discussed and overall it was an excellent show of support to the mill by local public and economic development leaders.

Worlds of Possibilities  

About 2,500 fourth through eighth grade students – as well as high school students – from Escambia and Santa Rosa counties visited the Worlds of Possibilities Career Expo at PSC Feb. 28 - March 1.. Local businesses and vendors provide hands-on activities for students to experience various careers.

Courtesy of Ferguson Airport, the World of Aviation featured an R-44 helicopter and pilots on site to talk with students about careers and opportunities in aviation. 
 
New Resource Website for Northwest Florida Entrepreneurs 
The University of West Florida Center for Entrepreneurship, in collaboration with Gulf Power Company and FloridaWest Economic Development Alliance, has developed the  Northwest Florida Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Assets Portal to assist entrepreneurs in Northwest Florida.

CODEFEST April 7 - 9
The FloridaWest EDA team is supporting the second annual CodeFest 2017 at The University of West Florida, Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering, Computer Science Department on April 7 - 9.

This weekend-long event invites students from around the region to come together and work with professional mentors to develop a product.  That's 36 hours from an idea to a demo. This is a great way for students to learn and network with other students, professors, and community leaders. This event was highly successful last year with more than 70 students from multiple universities participating and a community of over 20 mentors, judges, and volunteers.
