Elms College Partners With Haiti to Enhance Education Globally

Elms College officially signed a new partnership agreement with the State University of Haiti on Tuesday to establish a program supporting teachers in the Caribbean nation.

The collaboration focuses on providing specialized training for educators to strengthen the country’s school system. A signing ceremony was held Tuesday, February 17, to celebrate the agreement, which includes leaders from Haiti’s largest public university and Elms College President Dr. Harry Dumay. The partnership aims to expand the college’s reach by sharing educational resources and expertise with international colleagues. The new program will focus specifically on providing training for educators. This initiative is built on what college officials described as a long-standing commitment to education and global outreach efforts.

Dr. Dumay, president of the College of Our Lady of the Elms, emphasized the importance of the agreement during the ceremony. “We are really fulfilling the mission here at Elms College and supporting our colleagues at the State University of Haiti, reinforcing education in Haiti,” Dumay said. This partnership follows previous international health initiatives established by the institution. In 2019, Elms College launched a nursing education partnership in Haiti designed to improve health care services throughout the country.

Blazer Blitz

A mission doesn’t begin on the day it launches. It begins with the people who believe in it.

Across the country, alumni are already stepping forward to serve as ambassadors, spread the word, and prepare for Blazer Blitz. Because Mission: Possible isn’t just a theme, it’s a reflection of what this community does best.

On March 18, our mission is clear:

  • Raise $175,000
  • Rally 500 donors to unlock challenge gifts
  • Create real impact for our students

At Elms College, financial aid changes lives every single day. It opens doors for first-generation students. It supports future nurses, educators, business leaders, and innovators. And next month, we come together to strengthen that impact.

Blazer Blitz is just a few weeks away.

Until then, mark your calendar. Talk to your classmates. Think about the role you want to play. When this community moves together, extraordinary things happen.

Mission: Possible begins in March.
