Nominations
The Nominating Committee prepares the slate of new committee members to present at our November Presbytery Meeting each year. We solicit suggestions for elders, pastors, and church leaders from our member churches.
A description can be found on the Nominations Committee Suggestions Form for each committee. Committee members are asked to serve at least one two-year term. Committees typically meet once a month. You do not have to make a suggestion for each committee.
Some factors to consider when suggesting yourself or others to serve as church officers:
Church involvement: regular attendance at worship, active participation in church activities, offices held and leadership rendered, evidence of commitment to the church and its mission, understanding of and commitment to Presbyterian polity.
Christian life: evidence of grace and compassion in common life, evidence of maturity and effectiveness of ministry in the world.
Personal qualifications: cooperativeness, willingness to listen, readiness to learn, ability to follow through on assignments, organizational ability, creativity, openness to new ideas, maturity of judgment, freedom to express ideas and thoughts.
Other factors: occupational background and life experience, service in other organizations, interest in particular causes, offices held and quality of performance in them, education and training in the duties and responsibilities of that office.
***Please note: You may access the PDF version of this form simply by clicking on the form title above or here: Nominations Committee Submission Form. To begin completing the form, you should use "Save as ..." to create a new file (i.e. "NomForm.pdf") then attach it to an email or print and return by September 1 to: lwhite@foothillspresbytery.org
Thank you!

Faithful Innovation Learning Communities
|
|
Participating congregations will be discerning their unique answer to this question: "When you consider the gifts you have been given and the needs of our world, what future do you imagine God is bringing forth in our midst?"
What is a Learning Community?
A learning community is a group of congregations who commit to one another in a learning experience. Through prayer, skill-building, action, and reflection they address their most pressing questions about the future.
The faithful innovation process works using three distinct practices:
Listen, Act, and Share.

The REvangelism Conference is designed to take you on a deeper journey into faith: into the lives of others, into justice, hope, and the wonder of God. Together we will practice habits of Evangelism that will engage us in the gospel of good news — God’s justice and reconciliation for the world.
At REvangelism you will interact with the wise, diverse voices in the church who contributed to the 8-Habits of Evangelism resource. As you work through each habit together, you will experience the goodness and richness of Christ’s body and the Holy Spirit transforming you, and the world around you.

"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." -Proverbs 27:17
As you look ahead to the new church year, are you feeling excited? Are you feeling tired? Do you have your youth group schedule ready to go? Or, are you still tweaking?
Do you yearn for meaningful conversations with fellow youth workers who "get" it? Might your tools need some sharpening?
Come join us on Wednesday, August 25th, for a peer-led resource-sharing opportunity! This will be a space for colleagues to connect, and speak about what has worked for their churches in the past year. We will also look towards the fall, and together sharpen our tools for the year to come.

When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, FIPC was not prepared to deal with the regulations and restrictions that had to be put in place. Shutting down our normal activities was met with some resistance and a feeling of loss. Unlike many of our sister churches, we had no ability to share our worship services with a congregation that could no longer attend on Sunday mornings. It had never been envisioned that we would need this capability. At FIPC we had been blissfully ignorant of the possibilities and opportunities that 21st century technology could provide. Truthfully, we were quite happy to plod along in the last century.
We were forced to jump into the uncharted, deep waters of live streaming worship with very little knowledge and no experience. It was sink or swim and we had to swim, even if we had to learn how after we were in the water. In the beginning, our friends at Grace Covenant allow us to share in their on-line worship. This bridged a gap and gave our folks an opportunity to gather basic information about what we needed to be looking into to be able to present our own on-line programming. Read More

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)
Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
