Tournament Team News

The Great Valley 6th Grade Boys "Heat" won the ICBA King of the Court tournament this past weekend with a 40-22 victory over Bustleton in the D3 championship game.

It was a great weekend of basketball, with the Heat going a perfect 4-0, defeating two D2 teams and playing incredible team basketball.

The Great Valley 4th Grade Girls Fever” won the Twin Valley Rock the Bells Tournament this weekend, and qualified for the State Championship in March, by beating Norchester 20-6.

The team’s suffocating defense led the way and all team members contributed to the three victories over the weekend.

This weekend, the Great Valley 5th Grade Boys "Vipers" competed twice.

Friday night saw a 29-13 victory over Penn Valley in the final round robin game of King of the Court. On Sunday, the Vipers lost a tough battle against the Whitemarsh 11u team in the King of the Court Championship.

More importantly, with the Viper's competing in the Championship round, they earned a golden ticket and auto qualifying bid to play in the PA State tournament in March in State College!!

8th Grade Boys:

The coaches of the 29ers D2 team couldn't be more impressed with the team effort on Saturday. Down 17 at the half, the team clawed their way back to take a one point lead with a few seconds to go in the King of the Court championship game. A controversial last few seconds ended in a 1 point loss for the 29ers, but the team qualified for States in March. Every player deserves credit for the comeback, which was led by Noah Gardner's ball-handling, and Cooper Willey and Paul Serpentine's offense (10 points each). Next up: first ICBA league game on 12/20 at GVMS. Go 29ers!

The 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade tournament teams are starting their ICBA league this week!

SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS

As always, we had tremendous local support for what we are trying to accomplish with our GVBL winter rec league. Without this assistance, there would be a financial shortfall for equipment, administration and facilities rental. GVBL would like to thank all those who have stepped up to support GVBL. In addition, as always please try and support these local businesses throughout the year, shopping and doing business right here at home.
