GVBL Rec League News

GVBL Girls 3rd/4th Action

With Thanksgiving over, GVBL players are heading back to the courts. Time to lace up your sneakers, grab a ball and practice up for this weekend's games.

As always, let's keep the energy high and the competition friendly!

Tournament Team News

The 29ers D2 team enjoyed a Thanksgiving break and can't wait to get back to practice this week. We are ready to give it our all as we prepare to tip off our King of the Court tournament on December 7 against Roslyn and then Doylestown. Go 29ers!

The Girls 4th grade Fever played in the John Streeper tournament this past weekend. It was our first tournament experience and we went 2-2 on the weekend. We also enjoyed some team bonding time in between the games!

One of our 5th Grade Boys Tournament Teams, the Great Valley Vipers, kicked off their ICBA season last night with their first game in the King of the Court Tournament.

The boys beat the MARA Warriors 40-20 in a fast paced, hard fought battle. Weston Healey led the way with 10 points along with 8 other players contributing to the scoring. The Vipers play next Saturday at 8am versus Roslyn. The 5th Grade Boys Venom will play their first King of the Court game this upcoming Saturday against the Upper Perkiomen Tribe.

The Girls 6th grade Diamonds played in the John Streeper tournament this past weekend. They went 3-1 on the weekend and enjoyed getting back out on the court. The team will compete in the King of the Court tournament starting this Friday.

Giving Tuesday

At GVCO, we believe that Giving Tuesday is not just a single day for us; it represents a commitment we uphold all year long. As we reflect on the importance of this day, we recognize that it goes beyond mere donations; it highlights the strength of partnership and the importance of community involvement.

Our initiatives, such as collaborating with local nonprofits to host donation drives and working closely with the CCIU's Discover Program, are made possible by the active involvement of our community members. We encourage and value the community's participation in these initiatives, as it further strengthens a sense of belonging.

Some of our ongoing efforts include hosting blood drives to encourage neighbors to help save lives, running a Challenger Gym Program that enables children with extra needs to enjoy fun activities alongside high school buddies, and offering ELL classes to support the well-being and success of all community members while our recreational programs create additional opportunities to strengthen that sense of community further.

GVCO is committed to giving back to the community through our deep-rooted dedication to services, activities, and partnerships. GIVING TUESDAY serves as a powerful reminder of our commitment to making a positive and lasting impact on our community all year long

Caring Hands

For 30 years, Home of the Sparrow has been helping helps single women, mothers, and their children facing homelessness secure housing and achieve long-term stability. GVCO is collecting household cleaning and personal care items to support this wonderful cause.

Drop off donations at GVCO through December 8th.

  • Donations of child and adult-sized lightly used and recently cleaned winter coats are accepted.
  • Check your elementary school for donation dates.
  • The coats will be distributed to local families in need through the Devereux Foundation.

Let's finish what we started, paying off the debt and moving forward with the next phase of the project. To do this, the support must continue and be more broad based.

SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS

As always, we had tremendous local support for what we are trying to accomplish with our GVBL winter rec league. Without this assistance, there would be a financial shortfall for equipment, administration and facilities rental. GVBL would like to thank all those who have stepped up to support GVBL. In addition, as always please try and support these local businesses throughout the year, shopping and doing business right here at home.
