At KidsAbility Waterloo, rainy days give way to blooms in May in Betty's Garden, tended by our faithful volunteers from the Garden Club of Kitchener-Waterloo.

Hi Lisa,

In this issue of Connections, I’m excited to share with you several important days this month. Alongside celebrating our therapists during Speech & Hearing Month and Physiotherapy Month and hearing about the impact of their work, we look ahead to Mother’s Day—a special time when we honour the moms and mother figures of the children and youth whose lives you touch with your generosity.

Among these dedicated moms is Nicole Guse, whose unique way of giving back offers you an opportunity this Mother’s Day to celebrate through a heartwarming event inspired by her family’s personal story. Her son, Josh, greatly benefited from many early years of speech therapy services and found his voice thanks to KidsAbility. Moved by the wrap-around support her family received—made possible by donors like you—Nicole turned her gratitude into action through her musical company Guse Productions, with her successful seasonal show, The Sounds of Christmas, now entering its tenth year.

In just a few days, her upcoming musical production, A Sentimental Journey 2 promises to warm hearts and uplift spirits in the very same way, with multiple performance dates and times you can choose to attend.

Everyone is welcome! Your attendance is a powerful way to support KidsAbility’s ongoing services and programs. Every ticket purchased extends your impact, helping us continue our mission. Get your online tickets here!

Warmest regards,

Lisa Talbot, Executive Director, KidsAbility Foundation

Meet Victoria, Physiotherapist at KidsAbility

Victoria first started at KidsAbility on a student placement in the summer of 2018. She joined the School-Based Rehabilitation Services (SBRS) team in 2020, and hasn’t looked back! As we celebrate Physiotherapy Month, Victoria reflects on one of her most memorable moments in her role and shares:

Victoria K., Physiotherapist

"One student went from using their walker, to confidently walking by herself at school, all within a year! We adjusted her walker, and she started to almost run down the hallway! When she started taking independent steps, we gradually increased the walking distance with tape lines on the floor. Her mom was in tears saying she was so proud, and it was a major win for the whole team!"

Our 2024 IMPACT, Your Donor Newsletter just published! Read uplifting stories about some of the children you reach with your generosity, and how together we’re helping local kids and families grow and thrive.
