Spring is beginning to sprout!

Yes, families and faculty are enjoying Winter Break this coming week, but when everyone returns, spring should be in the air and on the ground.

In fact, some trees and flowers are already blooming at LPA's Event Center.

The campus will be officially closed Monday, Feb. 26 -- Friday, Mar. 01.

Students are a natural in modeling

First and second graders made models of the environment around them, complete with figures of birds, animals, fish, and reptiles! With a little bit of paint, glue, and parental help, students enjoyed creating and sharing their projects. In the earliest stages of learning personal presentation, these youngsters practiced "public speaking" in their "show and tell" displays.

Parenting is not easy!

But it is better by the book -- and The Book. And while being a mom certainly isn't all smiles all the time ... working on parenting seems better in groups!

Elementary moms have been gathering weekly to examine and to discuss biblical insights. They are using Dr. Kathy Koch's new book, Parenting Differently, to focus on the character of children, more than desired outcomes alone, such as obedience. A few more copies of the book are available at the front desk for those interested.

Mariner Athletics -- Go Green!

Tournament-worthy, swarming defense

The girls junior varsity team played a much larger school in the JV tournament, this weekend in Greenville -- and all the practices in preparation were evident. The Lady Mariners played excellent defense, holding Bob Jones Academy to just 13 points through the fourth quarter and forcing an overtime. In the end, LPA lost by two points, but the ladies' performance was something to cheer about!

All the way to the big game

The JV boys team won three games in the tournament, to earn a spot in the championship game. A talented team from Easley, SC ultimately emerged the victors, but the Mariners had many great moments, and brought home the runner-up trophy. Ryan Bull and Christian Mayhall were honored with all-tournament individual medals.

Adding life to the uniforms
