Meet our Volunteer of the Month: Maggie Allen
I have been a volunteer for about 6 years now and I started not long after the new library opened. I initially started as a Circulation Volunteer and then added Transit Volunteer to my duties. I have also added helping with the Friends Shop book sales. Since I started I am amazed at how many parts there are to the whole operation--or the parts that I see. It's very complicated yet seamless in how a book or item gets in a patron's hands; from the request to transit to the Circulation Desk. My favorite part of volunteering is when a patron will stop me and ask for help finding something--usually in non-fiction- and their eyes light up when I show them the Dewey system list on the wall-- and they say Oh now I can find things myself. I sometimes think people are a bit hesitant to go to the Circulation Desk for a question because they don't want to bother the librarian, but they are more comfortable asking a person walking around with a cart.

Change is blowing in the wind...but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time -- stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah's terrifying home.
