Meet our Volunteer of the Month: Mary Jo Moyer
I have been the Monday evening Circulation Desk volunteer for six years with a brief stint in transit during the library's Covid closure. I see the library as more than just a media center or a place to borrow books. With the variety of resources and programming it offers, I see it as a community gathering place for people who want to learn more. Nevertheless, borrowing books is still what the library is most known for. As I shelve returned nonfiction titles, I continue to be struck by the diversity of subjects that interest our patrons. I wonder what circumstance or event may have prodded them to want more information about a topic or person. I silently applaud them for making the effort to obtain and read a book rather than just to do a quick online search.
