2021 Fall Recreational Soccer Program Registration Open
Don't delay. Sign up now for our recreational soccer program commencing in late August through mid November. Recreational soccer provides an opportunity to play with school friends, learn the game with volunteer coaches, and compete with teams in nearby communities. Practices occur during the week with games on the weekend. Recreational soccer is a great way to form new friendships, learn new skills and have fun. For some, it is a pathway to higher level soccer, and for others, it is a social and healthy pastime. We welcome all comers. Have your child grab a friend and register here.

MIFC Administration Changes
MIFC is restructuring its administrative staff. Longtime Rec Program Registrar (and key program administrator) Mindy Rowe is resigning to pursue other interests. Stephanie Wyss, Select Program Registrar, will assume Registrar Duties for all programs. Lis Larkin, current manager of fields, will be taking on a newly created General Manager position overseeing all Club operations. Natalie Woods will continue as our webmaster. Mindy will stay on as an advisor in a transitional role. We thank her for her many years of extraordinary, dedicated service to the Club -- keeping the board and staff headed in the right direction, always with a smile. Mindy - we wish you the best in your next endeavors.
We welcome Lis, who explains her passion for MIFC soccer programs as follows: "The soccer community was the first to welcome my boys when we moved to Mercer Island from overseas in 2012. My oldest, who is a senior, played MIFC in his younger years. My youngest, who is a freshman, is a current player. I joined MIFC as a field scheduler in early 2020 and have been impressed by the dedication of those behind the scenes continually finding creative solutions for players to train and play despite COVID restrictions. When the opportunity to take on a bigger role was presented, I said yes. Team sports teaches kids so many valuable lessons from resilience, to teamwork, to respect, to courage and MIFC has a strong team in place to provide this learning environment for our players."

Consider Becoming a Referee
The soccer community is experiencing a severe shortage of referees. All games are more enriching when overseen by well trained referees. It makes the game fairer and allows our kids to learn how to play responsibly and with respect for the rules of the game. Youth and adults can become referees and earn wages by refereeing games. Plus - it is a fun way to exercise! If you are interested in how to qualify as a referee, please consult this this link for requirements and available clinics. And, please, as always, be respectful and understanding of all our referees, especially when when games are understaffed.
