| | A Legacy of Service: The History of the Credit Union Movement
| | The credit union movement began in mid-19th century Germany, where cooperative lending organizations were created to provide affordable credit to working-class families. The concept reached the United States in 1909 with the founding of St. Mary’s Cooperative Credit Association, the nation’s first credit union.
| More than a century later, the movement’s “people helping people” philosophy continues to guide the industry. While today’s credit unions leverage innovations such as digital banking, shared branching, and AI-powered fraud prevention, their commitment to service, financial inclusion, and community impact remains unchanged.

| | Success Story
| MOON Chapter Pet Food Drive Makes an Impact
| | The Second Annual MOON Chapter Pet Food Drive was a great success, bringing credit unions together to support pets and families in need.
| Participating credit unions collected a large amount of pet food and supplies for Big Lake Humane Society’s Pet Food Pantry.
| The drive also raised $2,500, including the $500 MOON Chapter match. Of that, $2,300 was donated directly to Big Lake Humane Society, with the remaining $200 supporting an out-of-state pet food pantry.
| Thank you to everyone who helped make this people-helping-people effort possible.
| Next up is the 18th Annual MOON Chapter Food Drive, stay tuned for more information!
