Annual Labor Day Weekend Volunteer Work Party

September 4-7 at Marin-Sierra

It takes a lot of effort to make the necessary seasonal changes to our amazing Sierra property while adjusting from Summer Camp use to off-season preparedness. Come up with your adult volunteers and Scout youth (13 or older) to help out for any part of the holiday wknd and camp for free with all meals provided! Ranger Jake will have several important projects including trailwork and campsite maintenance. Fall is Recruitment Season for new Cubs and Scouts BSA Youth!

The end-of-Summer back-to-school period and Fall season is a traditional time for highlighting new member recruiting, especially with our Cub Scout Packs and the local elementary schools. Scouting America reports that 59% of youth members polled were invited by a friend. Some units have already held invitational activities such a picnics and school nights. There are excellent resources available from the National website and by contacting your local support team Trish Ferenz (Cub Scouts, Exploring BSA) or MJ Andrews (Scouts BSA, Venturing BSA). Encourage your Scouts to become a Recruiter and earn the patch!

California Coastal Clean-Up --- Saturday September 19

It is that time of year again for the annual Coastal Cleanup across dozens of sites in Marin County alone, which need eager volunteers from 9am to 12noon on Saturday, September 19. The clean-up efforts are followed by a fun BBQ at the US Army Corps of Engineers' Bay Model in Sausalito for all participating volunteers.

Contact by email Margaret Farley, Marin Troop 50 Committee Chair and County Coastal Clean-Up Coordinator to reserve your site soon! Note that this activity fits in with the Scouting America initiative this year . . . "Scouting for Clean Waterways".
