Council Roundtable --- 7:30pm Thursday, February 5

Unit leaders, please remember to assign an adult from your Pack, Troop or Crew to attend our monthly Roundtable meeting in-person at the LDS Church, 200 N. San Pedro in San Rafael! This important monthly meeting is a great way to receive Council news for the 2026 calendar events, plus camaraderie with experienced Scouting leaders around Marin! Thanks for your participation and support!

Join Marin Council Roundtable Commissioners

Roger Dickerson (Cubs) and Mike Blum (Scouts)!

This month we will be celebrating the birthday of Scouting in America (02/08/1910) and discussing unit use at Tamarancho as well as the many great events coming up soon. Make sure every local unit is represented for all the information sharing and Scouting fellowship!

Unit Commissioner Service --- How Can YOU Help?

The Council commissioner service is looking for adult volunteers who would like to serve Scouting In Marin by sharing their knowledge and experiences with other Scouters in local units. If you’d like to learn more – click here.

"Code RED" First-Aid & E-Prep Patrol Competition Wrap-up

Our very popular Code RED First-Aid & Emergency Preparedness competition was a resounding success thanks largely to the efforts of Event SPL Kate W., and ASPLs Dylan Pilling and Georgia S-R with the support of T15/1015 adult leaders. This event was held at the San Rafael LDS Church, with a strong attendance of nearly 200 from around Marin Council with 15 patrols from 11 Troops represented! It’s safe to say that all Scouts survived the High Adventure scenarios with their exceptional first aid skills and ability to be prepared!

Congratulations to the top-performing patrols and scenario recognitions:

First place - Troop 48 Tiburon

Second place - Troop 1G Mill Valley

Third place - Troop 200 Novato

Best Scenario Overall: Troop 1G's Pirate Attack

Most Creative Scenario: Troop 200's Tsunami Shoreline

Most Educational Scenario: Troop 101’s Bear Attack!

Patches are in the mail from the vendor and will be placed in your unit mailboxes. Thank you to everyone who helped plan, participated or volunteered for this annual big event. We look forward to seeing you all again next year! This exciting Scout Skills event was sponsored by the Scouts and adult volunteers of Troops 15/1015 from San Anselmo!

Pull French Broom @ Tamarancho --- Saturday, February 7

French broom is an invasive weed that thrives all around the Bay Area, especially at Camp Tamarancho. It is a rapid-growing nuisance and a wildfire fuel concern for our property. Please volunteer to join Marin County Fire in our efforts to manage this environmental problem around the Sunrise and Shady Bend campsites at Tamarancho on Saturday morning, February 7, 2026. See information flyer attached, and you must register your Scouts BSA youth and adult volunteers to participate via the QR code and hold-harmless agreement. This event will take place rain or shine, and lunch will be served for all who register!

"Champ Camp" Pinewood Derby Winter Workshop

Saturday, February 14 at Camp Tamarancho

This fun Saturday activity helps Cub Scouts and their parents who need assistance designing, cutting and building a Pinewood Derby car. It has been held for many years at the Camp Tamarancho wood shop as shown in the photo below. Bring your own car kit purchased from our Marin Council Trading Post, and have a design in mind before arrival (suggestions will be emailed to all registrants).

Council adult volunteers and OA Talako Lodge members will be on-hand to assist with directing traffic and parking, managing check-in, and working with power tools and other equipment to help you rough out the shape of your imagination on wheels! We will offer a small Trading Post with Pinewood Derby car kits and accessories, so don't forget to bring some small change! For more details, or to register your Cub Scout, please click here. And thanks for your support!
