Pray-Woodman will have an official mascot!
The Board of Education has granted approval for each elementary school to choose a mascot.
A survey for mascot ideas will be sent Friday, and we invite all families to suggest ideas for our school mascot by completing the online survey. All responses must be submitted by Friday, Oct. 12.
Each class will submit mascot nominations, and staff members will also get to join in on the fun.
Once we have received all of the ideas; staff, Site Council, and the PTO Executive Board will review the nominations and narrow the list down to 10 to 12 finalists.
Toward the end of October, students and staff will vote on these finalists and narrow the field to 3-5 mascot nominees.
The final vote will occur in mid-November, and the nomination for the Pray-Woodman mascot will be submitted to the Board of Education for approval at their December meeting.
For both voting cycles, students will have the opportunity to write essays and make posters to promote their favorite mascot nomination.
The guidelines for choosing elementary school mascots are:
- Every elementary school will choose a different mascot.
- Since each school has students who will attend both high schools, no birds that are like Eagles (Hawks, Falcons, etc.) and no bovine (bulls, bison, etc.)
- No state mascots (Jayhawks, Wildcats, Shockers, etc.)
- Student, parent, and staff involvement
- Must be approved by the Board of Education
This will be an exciting and memorable experience for our students, and we look forward to having an official mascot for Pray-Woodman!
EXCEL with Pray-Woodman Pride!
