A NOTE FROM NILS
It was great to see so many families last night at our Title I Family Night. It was incredible to be together again in person as a Pray-Woodman family in a fun learning environment. Special thanks to our staff members who helped direct parking, deliver prizes, serve refreshments, and perform other duties needed to have a successful event. If you were unable to join us last night and would like a copy of The BFG and some fun family activities please call the office (while supplies last).

We are looking forward to some exciting end-of-year celebrations including:

Field Day-Each student and staff member will receive a free frozen treat from Andy’s Frozen Custard as part of this event. We earned this prize when Pray-Woodman won the fundraising event at Andy’s last school year.

Tuesday, May 18th, 9:00-11:15 am (2nd & 4th grades)
Tuesday, May 18th, 12:45-3:00 pm (3rd & 5th grades)

Wednesday, May 19th, 9:30-10:15 am (KG & 1st grades)
Wednesday, May 19th, 1:30-2:15 pm (KG & 1st grades)
Pray-Woodman Legacy Beads-To honor our 25th anniversary, we have established a new tradition to add a bead to our glass case for each student who attended Pray-Woodman. The beads are sorted by year. From 1995-2020 Pray-Woodman served 17,675 students. For the 2020-2021 school year 575 more beads (representing each student this year) will be added bringing our total to 18,250 students served at the Home of the Hyphen.  Mrs. LaMunyon, assistant principal, and I will visit each classroom during the last week of school so each student can place their bead in the container.
Farewell Parade-On the last day of school our fourth and fifth graders who will be moving on to the intermediate schools next year will parade through the campus so we can honor them as they head on to their next adventure.

We are looking forward to a great end of the school year!!

TITLE I FAMILY NIGHT
Thank you for making our Title I Family Night a huge success!!!
A MESSAGE FROM THE LIBRARY
A big THANK YOU to all of you who supported the library this year! Many positive learning opportunities arose from our COVID restrictions: students as young as first grade learned to use our card catalog to search for specific titles of interest, 2nd-5th graders perfected this skill as well and learned how to order a book so we could provide contact-free open check out. Our students were able to have a book of their choice checked out to them this entire school year. We realized these “little” things are actually “big” things.

Celebrating reading has been our focus for the last couple of weeks as we dressed up and enjoyed the mystery of our masked readers. The week of 4/26 teachers were encouraged to host multiple DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) sessions. K-5 students have been participating in reading challenges throughout this time as well. K-1 students: Your reading challenge logs were due Thursday, April 29. 2nd-5th grade students: You had until Thursday, April 29, to read books and take an AR quiz to earn a chance to win.

Thanks to our PWS PTO for supporting our virtual author visit with Dan Gutman. 2nd-5th graders joined him via Zoom from their classrooms on Tuesday, April 27. If you were interested in purchasing a signed copy of one of his books, order forms were due Thursday, April 29.

It’s been a successful year of reading and growing in our library. Please encourage your child to read for fun over the coming months, and remember to carve out some time to do the same for yourself. Thank you for partnering with us!
A MESSAGE FROM FINANCE
Parents/Guardians:
Thanks to those of you that have paid your student’s fees to date!
Please frequently check your student’s fee balance using your Skyward Family Access Account. Simply log into your Family Access Account and click on “Fee Management” from the menu on the left.
“Fee Management” shows the payment status of your student’s curriculum fee which helps provide textbooks, curriculum materials and software to the classroom. “Fee Management” also lists specific fees such as Athletic Fees, lost books, etc. that may have been added by your student’s school.
If your student’s account has outstanding fees, please use one of the following payment options to pay your student’s fees:
Cash or Check Payments for outstanding fees may be sent directly to your student’s school. Include your student’s name and the item(s) you are paying for in the memo section of your check or with your cash payment.
Credit Card Payments for your student’s fees may be made by selecting “Make A Payment” on the Skyward Family Access “Fee Management” screen. (Detailed instructions for making online fee or food service payments are provided in Skyward Family Access. Click on “Online Fee Instructions” listed under “District Links”.)
Waived Fee Applications are being accepted. Families who qualify for free/reduced meals and complete the Consent for Disclosure form (back page of the Application for Free and Reduced Price School Meals) will have their curriculum and/or athletic fees waived if approved. Do not submit fee payment until your application has been processed and you receive your Notice of Eligibility from the Director of Food Service. The Application for Free and Reduced Price School Meals may be found on the district web page www.usd266.com listed under “District” then “Frequently Requested Forms” and “Free & Reduced Form and Consent for Disclosure”. A new application must be completed each school year.
Please contact your student’s building Accounting Secretary if you have questions regarding your student’s fees or your student’s building Skyward Secretary for questions/problems with your Skyward Family Access Log-In.

FEE PAYMENT NOTICE
Except for Waived Fee Applications, Maize USD 266 requests payment of school year fees during the enrollment period, when a fee is posted to the student’s Skyward Family Access Fee Management account or when the parent/guardian is notified by the student’s school that a specific fee is due.
Full payment of all student fees is expected during the school year the fee is incurred.  Partial payments may be made throughout the school year as long as the student’s Skyward Family Access Fee Management account balance is paid in full by the end of the school year.  The school district may withhold student diplomas for outstanding fees.

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
