From Pray-Woodman Counselor, Carrie Heide:
During second semester, I will be offering special counseling groups for students at PWS. Parent permission will be required for participation. Groups will take place during recess. Each group will meet at least 4 times. Please find the descriptions of each group below. Groups will be staggered throughout the semester. Groups are designed to support students with emotions and concerns that may be impacting school success. Students are not required to participate in one of these groups. Please contact me if you have any concerns or questions.
- Changing Families - Divorce support topics include communication, schedule changes, conflict resolution and managing big emotions.
- Managing Big Emotions - Emotion regulation strategies using the Zones of Regulation curriculum, identifying triggers and building a personal toolkit.
- Social Skills - This group will empower students to engage in identified social skills and promote a reduction of problem behaviors.

Parent PIck Up Procedures During Winter Weather
When weather is inclement, we will need to take precautions at the parent pickup area after school. Students will be held in the cafeteria if there is extreme cold, wind, or precipitation. At this time, we will have a staff member walk down the car line and call names by walkie talkie to the waiting area inside for your student to come out. To make this process go efficiently, please have your student's name inside your passenger window so the staff member may read it quickly and call for your student to come out. Parents are free to come into the cafeteria as well to pick up their student.

Inclement Weather, Snow Day Notifications
In the event of school being dismissed or canceled because of inclement weather, the district will send out an e-mail, phone notification, and -- for those who have opted to receive them -- a text message to the primary contact associated with both Family 1 and Family 2, if applicable, for each student. Those phone notifications will go out as early as 5:30 a.m. on the day of the closure. If a decision is made the night before to call off school, calls and texts will go out no later than 10:30 p.m.
It is wise to verify that we have your correct contact information on file. To do so,
please log on to Skyward Family Access
and click on "Student Info." If you are unsure how to log on to Skyward Family Access, please contact your child's school for assistance.
Similarly, in the event of an emergency in your child's school, the district will use the Blackboard Connect parent notification system to notify you of the situation and alert you to steps you need to take in order to reunite with your child. Communications would go to all contacts listed in Skyward Family Access "Family 1" and the main contact in "Family 2."

After School Pick Up & Parking
Parking along Academy Street or in the east parking lot is an option for picking up your children after school. If you choose to pick up your students this way, we ask that you walk over and pick your students up from the waiting area. If you are unable to do this, please wait in our parent pick-up car line. Thank you!
After School Transportation Changes:
1. When you leave a message on the after school instruction line, please indicate parent pickup (the car line outside), bus, or office (you will need to come in and get them).
2. If you have a confirmed response from the teacher (email or text), written in the agenda, or sent a note, you DO NOT need to contact the office.
After school transportation changes need to be made before 3:00 pm on M-T-TH-F, and before 2:00 pm on Wednesdays. Thank you!
