February 2017
Blessing of the Throats
This weekend (February 4&5) the Blessing of St. Blaise will be offered at the conclusion of our Masses at St. Teresa and St. Luke. The candles are blessed on the Feast of Candlemas also known as the Presentation of the Lord which is 40 days after the celebration of Christmas. This traditional blessing asks for God's protection from diseases and illnesses of the throat and is traditionally given on the Memorial of St. Blaise on February 3. The blessing is attributed to his healing of a young boy who was choking to death from a fish bone in his throat; the two candles used in the ceremony are derived from the candles brought to Blaise in prison by the boy's mother. Blaise was imprisoned for his faith.
Our Special Guest Fr. Victor Warkulwiz, M.S.S.
Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration
Fr. Victor Warkulwiz from the Missionary Priests of the Blessed Sacrament will be our guest speaking at all the Masses the weekend of February 4/5 on the benefits and necessity of Perpetual Adoration in our parish. Fr. Warkulwiz resides in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. He has taken his message of Perpetual Adoration to several hundred parishes in 47 states, Canada, and elsewhere. Fr. Victor has dedicated himself to visiting a parish every weekend where the desire to establish or maintain Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration has been expressed. The fruits of his labor have been bountiful and include a spiritual renewal within each parish.
Please remember that Perpetual Adoration in a parish is not just for a day, a week, a month or year. Rather it is for always. It is not temporary, but ongoing, lasting, permanent.

St. John Paul II said: “Our essential commitment in life is to grow spiritually in the climate of the Holy Eucharist.” There is no greater love given to Catholics than Christ present in the Eucharist.

Please do not miss hearing Fr. Warkulwiz. His homily is most inspiring and has touched the hearts of thousands of Catholics in bringing them to a deeper understanding  love of the Blessed Sacrament.
