August 19, 2021
Installation Service for
Jocelyn Wildhack
Jocelyn Wildhack will be ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament Sunday, August 22 at 2:00pm. The service will be held outdoors by the lake with an outdoor reception to follow and everyone is invited to attend. In case of rain, all will be held in the Jim Mosley Tabernacle.
An Arkansas Presbytery Workshop
In our Presbytery Resource & Support Survey, one of the top three areas you said you would be interested in further developing your skills and understanding was with technology and streaming. So we have hired Christen Kinard of Digital Congregations to teach a 3-part online course for us. Click here to read about the specifics.

The first ten churches to register will be accepted, after that, churches will go on a waiting list and will be notified if space opens up, so get your registration in early. Up to four people may attend from each church. Click here to register. Christen will have one-on-one office hours available to all participants during the weeks of the workshop.

If you have questions, contact Julie Price at julietannerprice@gmail.com or at 501-626-6477.
Pastor/Church Professional Retreat
The Presbytery of Arkansas invites its pastors and church professionals to attend a small group retreat entitled Discovering God's Abundance: Experiencing Peace and Grounding in the New Normal. The retreat will take place Sunday through Tuesday, September 26 - 28 at Ferncliff. Rev. Rebecca Spooner will be leading group sessions and offering one-on-one sessions with attendees.

"The pastor's retreat I attended in fall 2020 was just-the-right-thing at just-the-right-time for me. Covid-weary, I needed to recenter and share valued time with colleagues in ministry. The Wellspring program was most informative, and the individual counseling session was helpful to me - not to mention the beauty and peace of Ferncliff! It's always a challenge to carve out time for ourselves, so I plan to take advantage of the next opportunity."
Pastor Chip Hatcher, Westminster P.C., Hot Springs

We are accepting the first 10 participants who sign up, so register early. We have plans to repeat the retreat in October if there is enough interest. Click here to learn more and register. Direct questions to Julie Price at julietannerprice@gmail.com.
October Presbytery Meeting Update
And More
Article excerpt from Stewart:

"It troubles me to have to write this, but because of these increased cases and the ease of transmission, we will not be able to gather in person for our October meeting in Fayetteville and we will conduct that meeting as we have the previous four by Zoom. The dates remain the same, October 8 & 9, but we will not offer an “in-person” component."

Haiti: How We Can Help
The scale of the disaster facing Haiti after the Aug. 14 earthquake is becoming clearer. The quake and its aftershocks have left almost 1,300 people dead, thousands more injured and an unknown number of people are still missing. At least 13,000 homes were destroyed and roads, bridges and communication systems have been severely damaged. This catastrophe comes on top of Haiti’s ongoing struggles with endemic hunger and poverty, COVID-19 and continuing civil unrest, and as Tropical Storm Grace bears down on the region.
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is providing emergency relief and short-term recovery in the impacted areas through our established local partners and in collaboration with ACT Alliance and its members. The PC(USA), through PDA and together with regional World Mission colleagues, will remain active throughout the entire recovery process, accompanying our partners in the area as they determine long-term program needs and providing financial support for rebuilding and resilience.

The needs for the response will be great. God’s people are once again called on to stand in the "GAP" — Give. Act. Pray. Click here to donate.
