2020 Impact Report
Resiliency in a Crisis

To say that 2020 was a challenging year is an understatement. When the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic shut down our world in March 2020, no one could have predicted just how much of an economic and healthcare impact it would have on our communities.

Despite the disruption and uncertainty caused by the pandemic, Rx Partnership continued to work hard towards our mission of increasing medication access for vulnerable Virginians and strengthening the health safety net. Among other accomplishments, Rx Partnership: ensured there was no medication disruption, extended patient eligibility, created new program efficiencies to assist our clinic partners, enacted a new strategic plan, and launched a new mail delivery program.

Rx Partnership is committed to finding solutions to new challenges and ensuring that the most vulnerable Virginians (and the clinics that serve them!) have access to affordable medications to treat their chronic conditions.

Rx Partnership would like to thank our clinic partners, donors and
pharmaceutical partners for their continued support and commitment!

Rx Partnership's NEWEST Program
Access to Medication Program -
Insulin Pilot

Rx Partnership recognizes that affordable access to insulin to treat diabetes continues to be a huge issue and a barrier to care for many clinics and their patients. To help address this, RxP implemented an Insulin Pilot that provides access to seven different insulin medications for Access to Medication Program (AMP) clinic partners without pharmacies.

This program is imperative because according to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), more than 1 out of 3 Virginian adults have prediabetes and 1 out of every 11 Virginians has diabetes. This means that affordable access to medication to treat diabetes will become more and more critical.

Since starting this pilot program with three clinics in October 2020, RxP has already provided 44 insulin prescriptions. While that number doesn't initially seem significant, it represents medications that have an average cost of $195 each. Over the past three months, Rx Partnership has saved uninsured, diabetic patients (and the clinics who serve them) over $7,798 on the price of insulin!
