Songs Have Souls, St. Columb's Lenten Singer-Songwriter series, is back with a new line up of artists This week's artist is Keith Johnson.

Keith Johnson is an accomplished blues guitarist, harmonica player, and songwriter. He has amassed a songwriting catalog, with multiple songs released on his debut album, “Come to Mississippi.” Keith is in the process of carrying on and upholding a family legacy in the entertainment industry as he is the great-nephew of blues icon Muddy Waters. He is also the grandson of the late Texcellar Fields, a gospel singer and radio host. He was born in Glen Allen, Mississippi, a small town in the heartland of the Mississippi Delta. Keith graduated from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Audio Engineering and a Master of Business Administration in Human Resource Management.​

In 2023, Keith returned to Europe with the Big Muddy Band and performed original songs for Hulu “Searching for Soul Food” Episode 1. He was also featured in a YouTube series presented by Huckberry titled “Ramble On.” Keith published his first book titled Freeman: Opening the Case. In 2024, Keith released a new single titled “Nephew Muddy” paying homage to his great uncle Muddy Waters and published his second book titled Come to Mississippi: The Birthplace of the Blues.

Shows begin at 6:00 PM. We'll have a suggested donation of $15.00 at the door with all proceeds going to Special Session at Camp Bratton-Green.

Watson, a native of Jamaica, was recruited and earned her B.A. from Alcorn State University and her Ph.D. from U.S.M. While at Alcorn, she was a choir scholar at Trinity Episcopal Church. She is happy to be coming "home" for this concert.

We are honored to host our friends from Beth Israel and hear the story of Mr. George Rishfeld. George Rishfeld’s life story is a testament to resilience and the power of faith. Born in Warsaw, Poland, he was just six months old when World War II began. His family fled to Vilna, Lithuania, hoping for safety. The Nazis occupied Vilna, leading to the establishment of ghettos. Rishfeld’s parents decided to save their son by giving him to a Catholic family, the Fronckovics, who raised him as their own child. Despite the horrors of the Holocaust, Rishfeld’s parents survived, and he was reunited with them after the war. Rishfeld has dedicated his life to educating others about the Holocaust and its impact, sharing his story to inspire and raise awareness.

Join lay and ordained leaders from across the Diocese for the Small Church Conference, held April 17-18, 2026, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Grenada. This gathering, titled "Making a Way in the Wilderness," features guest speaker Rebecca Hall from the Iona Collaborative, who will lead plenary sessions on spiritual direction for congregations and navigating uncertain futures. Starting Friday at 5:00 PM and concluding Saturday at 1:00 PM, the event offers inspiring worship, networking opportunities, and meals will be provided.

What will the conference include?

Plenary sessions with Rebecca Hall as she teaches us about spiritual direction for congregations, inspiring worship, and networking with supportive colleagues. Dinner Friday night and lunch Saturday are provided.

Who should attend?

Church wardens, treasurers, vestry members, ministry leaders, clergy, and anyone passionate about small churches. We strongly encourage churches to bring a team of 3-5 people to the conference for maximum impact.

When does it start and end?

The official start to the conference will be Friday at 5:00 PM, but we plan to offer some optional sessions Friday afternoon for those who can arrive early. We’ll wrap up by 1:00 PM Saturday.

Where do I stay Friday night?

Any hotel of your choosing. The conference will be at All Saints Episcopal Church, 469 S. Main Street, Grenada. Information about group rates at hotels will be emailed to those who register.

What’s the cost?

$25.00 per person, scholarships available, plus the cost of lodging if needed

A Day of Spiritual Renewal

For the fourth year, St. John's, Laurel will host Byzantine iconographer Theodoros Papadopoulos of Larissa, Greece, in a six-day iconography workshop. No prior experience is necessary, but come ready to work hard. Course fee is $850.00 and includes all painting materials, including boards, pigments, brushes, color pictures, etc. Please note that the workshop will be held during a busy part of the tourist season in Laurel, so book any accommodations early. For further information, contact Fr.
