PICKLEBALL AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER ON TUE / THU

Senior Pickleball social and open play is presented by River Forest Township, River Forest Community Center and River Forest Park District on either Tuesday mornings (8:15-10:30 AM) or Thursday afternoons (1-3PM). These 6 week-long events are for all players of all skill levels; players will be paired together based on playing ability. There will be an emphasis on senior beginner and intermediate play to help develop players’ skill and love of the fastest growing sport in the USA.

TOWNSHIP 2024 TAX LEVY HEARING - DECEMBER 10

A public hearing to approve a 3.4% proposed increase in the River Forest Township property tax levy for 2024 will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 6:00 PM at the River Forest Civic Center Authority Building, 8020 Madison Street, Room 202, River Forest, Illinois. This meeting will also be held by Zoom.

LET'S TALK MENTAL HEALTH FOR DADS - DECEMBER 11

Calling all dads to join us for a night focused on men’s MENtal health! This discussion on Wednesday, December 11th from 7-8:30PM at Willard Elementary School Auditorium (1250 Ashland Ave.) will feature panelists with a range of experiences and will provide tools and resources to help men navigate their mental health and wellness. This is a FREE event in partnership with D90, Thrive Counseling and Village of Oak Park.

NON-PROFIT GRANT APPLICATIONS DUE JANUARY 15, 2025

The Township is offering grants to qualified non-profit organizations for Mental Health, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, and Youth & Family Services and Intergenerational programming.  All grant applications are due by January 15, 2025. Agencies requesting Mental Health and I/DD grants can meet with the committee on January 7; agencies requesting Youth & Family Service grants can meet with the committee on January 8th

PROGRAM TO ENCOURAGE ACTIVE, REWARDING LIVES (PEARLS)

This free program is designed to reduce depression systems for older adults 60+ living in River Forest or Oak Park through confidential, high-quality wellness care. Weekly sessions held at home, phone or virtually with a coach who works directly with you to explore pathways to improve your quality of life by focusing on personal goals, increased social and physical activities, problem-solving and more. FREE COVID AND FLU SHOTS

Children (6 months and up) and adults can receive COVID-19 and flu vaccines at no cost, regardless of insurance coverage, at walk-in clinics offered by Cook County Department of Public Health at North Riverside Health Center (1800 S Harlem Ave.) from 8AM to 4PM on 12/21/24 and 1/18/25. A person’s immigration status will not impact the ability to receive immunizations. Walk-ins welcome, no appointment necessary. Bring a form of I.D. and insurance card (Note: insurance is not required).
