2022 Township of Brock Accessibility Award Recipient

The staff and volunteers at McCaskill's Mills Public School have been named the recipients of the 2022 Township of Brock Accessibility Award.

Principal Nicole Locker was presented the award on June 20, 2022 at McCaskill’s Mills Public School by Township of Brock Mayor, John Grant. Also, in attendance were members of the Brock Accessibility Advisory Committee Tony Laundrie, Donna Schirle and Jolene Munro as well as Regional Councillor Ted Smith and Ward 1 Councillor Michael Jubb.

The staff and volunteers of McCaskill’s Mills were chosen for their continuous efforts to improve accessibility, increase accessibility awareness and ensure an environment of inclusion for all students. Principal Locker expressed great appreciation for the recognition.

After the presentation all attendees were given a tour of the school by Principal Locker who provided an explanation of the school’s special education programs and the work that is done through those programs. While discussing the programming she acknowledged the importance of the need to craft unique programs due to the individualism of each student. During the tour all attendees witnessed the appreciation the students have for the staff and volunteers' efforts for accessibility which was demonstrated through warm smiles and conversations.
