Timothy Johnson, a University of South Alabama graduate of the College of Education and Professional Studies, was honored as the 2019 Outstanding Alabama Elementary School Science Teacher. He is a STEM lab instructor at E.R. Dickson Elementary School in Mobile.
Student Spotlight
Physical education, also known as “P.E.” in K-12 schools, is much more than recess. Shelby Lynn , who will receive her master of education in physical education from South later this month, wants people to know that P.E. classes involve standards that progressively build motor skills, movement characteristics, fitness and social responsibility. Lynn is a recipient of the Educator Excellence Scholarship .

Alumni Success
Michelle DuBose Adams , who was a student at the USA College of Education and Professional Studies, was recently honored at the National Blue Ribbon Schools awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., as a recipient of 2019 Terrel H. Bell Award for Outstanding School Leadership . Adams was one of only 10 principals nationwide to receive this award.

Program Highlight
Visit Mobile, the city’s official point of contact for leisure travelers, convention and meeting planners, bus tour operators and travel agents, has named the USA Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management as recipient of the 2019 Hospitality Partner of the Year award.
