After rash of COVID cases, Maharishi International University virus-free
|
|
FAIRFIELD — Maharishi International University in Fairfield had a spat of COVID-19 cases earlier this month, but now appears to be free of the virus based on the latest test results all coming back negative.
Rod Eason, vice president of enrollment and student affairs at the university, said there were 21 positive cases in the student body a couple of weeks ago. All of them were students living in the high-rise dormitories on the north end of campus.
Because all of the positive cases were confined to a handful of buildings, everyone in those buildings was put in quarantine. Eason said two students were treated in the hospital for their symptoms but were released the same day.
“Most students had only mild or no symptoms,” Eason said. “And all of those students are now recovered.”
Those students did not eat in the cafeteria during their isolation. In fact, they used a separate entrance from the other students to enter the Argiro Student Center to get their food so they couldn’t mingle with other students. They also had to switch to taking their courses online.
The other students had the option of taking courses either online or in-person, provided the classroom was large enough to accommodate social distancing.

"The purpose of life is to enjoy bliss-consciousness and evolve to the eternal state of liberation while accomplishing and enjoying the maximum in life achieving the greatest good for oneself and others."
"The art of speaking pleasingly lies in making the mind and heart full of happiness. This we have seen is effectively possible only by infusing the bliss of Being into the nature of the mind, which is easily accomplished by the regular practice of Transcendental Meditation."

Six Ways to Keep Your Respiratory System Healthy
Take a deep breath. Did you breathe through your nose? Did your chest or belly move as you inhaled or exhaled? Did you hear the sound of your breath?
|
|
Chances are you barely notice your body going about its quiet work of inhaling and exhaling, yet your life depends upon it. The 25,000 breaths you take each day supply life-giving oxygen to your brain, your heart, and every cell in your body. And to perform at their best your respiratory system’s airways—comprised of your nose, mouth, throat, bronchial tubes, diaphragm, lungs, and capillaries —need to be supple, flexible, and free of obstruction and irritation.
It’s during spring and autumn that respiratory immunity can trend lower, because your digestive strength fluctuates with the changing weather and may create more ama, the waste product of incomplete digestion. Ama can clog the fine channels and capillaries of the lungs with mucus. The key to burning away ama, according to Maharishi Ayurveda, is to strengthen your digestion and engage in daily routines that reduce ama. This in turn will improve immunity.
Here are seven ways to fine-tune your gut health, boost immunity, and keep your respiratory system in balance. Of course, if you have already developed a respiratory issue, consult your doctor immediately.
1. Eat foods that nourish the lungs and sinuses.

Updated and Expanded Afterword:
“Sequential Unfoldment of Maharishi’s Teaching”
“In this volume Maharishi presents the Science of Being as the systematic investigation into the ultimate reality of the universe. Like other sciences, it begins its investigation from the gross, obvious level of life, and delves more deeply into the subtle levels of the experience of Nature. The Science of Being, however, eventually transcends these subtle regions, and reaches the transcendental field of eternal Being.”
—Dr. Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the
Global Country of World Peace

Physicist, Dr. Larry Domash just passed away from pancreatic cancer. He taught at Maharishi International University circa 1973-75 and was president of MIU in 1979-80. He was appreciated for his sense of humor, keen intellect, deep thinker, brilliance, and free spirit and had a profound impact on how Maharishi spoke about the quantum field and consciousness. One story is that he sat outside for days and nights at Maharishi’s door at the first Amherst course, waiting to tell him about Superfluid and superconductor science analogies to transcending and Cosmic Consciousness.

Dear Faculty and Staff,
This is a reminder to continue to log complaints you receive from students. All complaints, including complaints about faculty, grades, university services, housing, or food, should be logged. If you receive a complaint but aren't the person to resolve the issue, you're still the person responsible to record the complaint. After you record it, email the person who will help resolve the issue, including details about the complaint and letting him or her know that you submitted the complaint on the log.
This procedure for addressing complaints is important: it helps keep our attention on improving student satisfaction and retention. We're also required by both the Higher Learning Commission and the US Federal Government to maintain institutional records of student complaints.
The Complaints Log is HERE. Please bookmark and continue using it.

NEXT U.S. NATIONAL YAGYA℠ PERFORMANCE DECEMBER 1 – 11
The U.S. elections finally came, and the nationwide concerns about major disruptions at the polling places, and possible mass protests afterward, did not materialize. Whether we can take credit for this or not, it was certainly our intention and the intention of our big National Yagyas.
Now, we must continue to do everything we can to foster national harmony and coherence while the final results of the election are being settled.
Whatever the outcome, our divided nation needs our help:
- Support the largest National Yagyas possible to help our nation find the quickest, most efficient path to the bright future we have all worked so hard to ensure, and
-
Make National Super-Radiance a top priority, especially during the coming weeks. CLICK HERE for Dr. John Haglin’s message with the details.
The intention (Sankalpa) of the next U.S. National Yagya will be:
Coherence, harmony, health, and prosperity
for the United States―and all of its people.

Wonderful new website from Raja Michael Dillbeck
The online database will let anyone search the
8 Volumes of Collected Papers by
• Area of Interest
• Author
• Journal
• Year of research.
You will also find
(1) a brief description of the study;
(2) its findings, and
(3) a note on the design of the study.
|
|
You can search papers for very specific areas, such as by a particular author, published in a specific journal and year. Or you can do broad searches on a topic, authors, or journals, or years.
For example, to find all papers on Health-Aging, select that area of interest and leave Author, Journal, and Year blank, and presto, 23 records of all the papers on that topic.
How many papers are there on “During the Practice-Brain Activity?” 78, all references and summaries right at your fingertips.
Similarly, you can find all papers by a particular author by putting in the name, and leaving Journal, Year, and Area of Interest blank, and you will find all their papers.
How many TM research papers were published in 1979? Answer: 39.
How many TM papers were published in Psychosomatic Medicine? 32
You get the idea. It is a very powerful tool to access the full potential of the research.

Ann Purcell Releases New Poetry Inspired by Nature and Transcendence
November 25, 2020 - A longtime teacher and practitioner of Transcendental Meditation, Ann Purcell has just released her latest collection of poetry, “Droplets of Heaven”. The work comprises 50 short poems, written straight from the heart, with each verse unfolding a poignant truth for further reflection and learning.
Ann has dedicated “Droplets of Heaven” to all the teachers of her life, and the work itself makes for a great learning guide. The verses, written in a simple and direct style, were inspired by the practice of Transcendental Meditation and the TM-Sidhi technique, and incorporate the teachings of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Going beyond, they also beautifully capture the serenity, peace and stillness of nature.
