SHBF Workgroup

Through transformative education, our Supporting Healthy Black Families’ (SHBF) workgroup addresses the root of health disparities and inequalities.

Our SHBF workgroup is a 90-day leadership program designed to empower and inspire breakthroughs and transformation in Black families and Black communities. Kick Black History Month off right by joining our SHBF workgroup today.

Our co-conspirator workgroup is designed to bring about positive, permanent shifts in how we define and understand white supremacist patriarchal capitalism.

You will no longer ask what to do or how to do it, you will know what to do and how to move with confidence and in impactful ways in support of the liberation of ALL Black people.

Our Team is Growing!

We could not be more thrilled to start our 2021 off right by expanding our team by 2 with our SHBF graduate Javaris Nuun and long time co-conspirator Sonya Forsythe to our team.

They will be on the team of Homeless Outreach Specialists and working to ensure our community has what in needs.

RISE ParentChild+

ParentChild+ is rooted in substainable literacy practices for young children to ensure the are on the path to educational success.

ParentChild+ is currently looking for families to participate in their program this year. RISE staff will deliver books and toys to families once a month and check in with them virtually twice a week for 30 minutes.

Both in English and in Spanish, ParentChild+ gives children an oppoortunity to still rise above during the pandemic

Dane County to offer $4 M to small businesses to help keep them running

More Power to Small Businesses! Dane County Buy Local has proposed a $4 million in funding for small businesses. To apply, a business must be a for profit, independently owned, Dane County business with no more than 50 employees. Average grant amount is $10,000.

Community Conversations in Partnership with Dane County

Save the date!! Our Community Conversations Lunch-Hour is one you don't want to miss. We will focus on our Community Justice center incorporating procedural fairness, restorative justice, and transformative justice. We will talk about establishing partnerships to engage with our community on how to transform the system.

Start your new year off right by joining the Foundation for Black Women's Wellness for their 2021 Project Live Well Jumpstart by attending a free 9 part nutrition class! This class is for Parents, Foster Parents, Guardians, and Childcare providers.

Take a moment to learn about healthy portion sizes, creating healthy meals, new veggies, fruits and grains with Lytonia Floyd from UW Extension and delve into a 9-class series on nutrition for you and your family.

Cook-it-forward

When COVID-19 hit, everything was reimagined. The way organizations and restaurants address food insecurities was one of them. Cook-it-Forward has shown up and shown out for our community time and time again and we could not be more proud to provide meals to folks in the community who needed it most.
