We welcomed autumn in Mount Kisco as the Chamber of Commerce launched Septemberfest and Kisco Run hosted the 5
th
Annual 5K. Thank you to all who provided the opportunity for our community to gather for family fun, music, great food, fitness, and sidewalk sales. We look forward to continuing to build public/private partnerships that provide opportunities for more events that strengthen our community.

Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Amendments

In the beginning of 2018, the Village of Mount Kisco began a Comprehensive Plan process to establish a vision, goals, and principles to guide both development and preservation in the Village. Visit
www.envisionmk.org for extensive information about the process and the draft documents, and where you can still submit written comments regarding the plan.

10/4 Comprehensive Development Plan and Zoning Amendments Information Session

The Village Board of Trustees has been working on legislation to identify specific criteria for roof top solar, and adds an option for large ground mounted installations and open-air carports in specific zones. The larger installations would be permitted in identified non-residential zones on private property and would require a Special Permit from the Planning Board. The current draft of the proposed solar law is available

Remembering Those Who Served
The Moses Taylor Jr. American Legion Post 136 will maintain a two-person sentry, 24 hour ceremonial vigil at the Veterans Memorial near Village Hall beginning on November 10th.
On November 11th at 11:00AM, there will be a ceremony at the memorial.

Infrastructure Construction Updates

|
We anticipate that our water main work under North Bedford Road will be complete by 11/9. ConEdison will plan on paving the roadway shortly following.
The Mountain Avenue project will be complete by 11/16 and roadway paving will follow.

From the Village Assessor

The Assessment Department would like to remind all senior citizens who receive the Enhanced Star exemption to sign up for the Income Verification Program (IVP), if they have not done so already. The IVP forms were previously sent out to seniors. As we discussed in our presentation last month, this is now required by New York State in order to continue to receive the exemption. Contact the Assessor's Office with any questions, by calling 864-0017.

Annual Craft Fair – Held at the Mount Kisco Public Library

Throughout the year, members create wonderful crafts to sell at the fair, such as: knitted, stained glass, clay and fabric items. Enter a raffle to win a beautiful hand built wooden lighthouse and handmade quilts, as well as many other prizes.

Santa Claus Letters

Children, 8 and under, are encouraged to write to Santa Claus to express their holiday thoughts and wishes. Santa’s special mailbox will be available at the Recreation Office in Village Hall, the Memorial Pool Complex and the Mount Kisco Library. Santa and his helpers put special care into answering each letter. Please make sure that you put your complete name (first and last) and mailing address on each letter.

All Mount Kisco children are invited to meet Santa and ride on a fire truck to the American Legion Hall. Santa will distribute candy and gifts.

No-Mow Zones: A Success Story

Mount Kisco, NY, is a beautiful Hudson Valley community, with streams, ponds, trails, and thousands of healthy trees. For many years, the village carefully mowed along every stream bank and shoreline, and then puzzled over increasing erosion, silting, and related problems.

There shall be no overnight parking from 1:00 am to 5:00 am from November 15 - April 1 on the following streets in their entirety:

Free Holiday parking is being provided in all municipal parking lots only (NOT ON STREET METERS) from Friday, November 30

– Tuesday, January 2nd, and is identified at all pay stations.
Please be sure to read the two hour or four hour time restriction on the signs. Time limits will be enforced to discourage all day and commuter parking.
