PT-19 Update
Wing Restoration
Wing Parts
Fuselage
The PT-19 restoration is moving forward. The outer wings are being restored by the Dixie Wing. They are replacing and rebuilding a lot of the wood in both outer wings. When they are done with the outer wings the center wing section will travel to the Dixie Wing in Peachtree City, GA just outside of Atlanta.

Here at home our maintenance crew is busy working on the fuselage taking apart, cleaning and restoring as needed. Dixie Wing will restore all of the yellow sections and we will restore all of the blue sections of our PT-19
Stearman on the Road
We had a great day at the Great Plains Wing open house on Saturday. The Stearman sold eight rides and gave one comp ride flight. Numerous members flew and drove to the event to support our friends in Omaha.
Thank you to everyone that made the trip! This was a great event for the Great Plains Wing.
Blastards
Several of our members traveled to Whiteman AFB and Cape Girardeau to help the Blastards set up and set off (blow up) airshow pyro. The Blastards are one of three CAF units specializing in airshow pyrotechnics. As a "Thank You" the Blastards donated $3,000.00 to the PT-19 aircraft account to help pay for the planes restoration.
Washing Planes in Navy Park
Power washers, boom lifts, ladders, buckets and mops were all in use on July 27 th as Wing members spent the morning washing the three vintage Navy planes in Naval Air Park. This is how we pay our rent for our hangar's pad on the airport.
John Glenn way
On July 16 th the Johnson County Airport Commission held a naming ceremony in our hanger to name a street after Senator and Astronaut John Glenn. John Glenn first learned to fly at Olathe Naval Air Station, now New Century AirCenter in a Stearman very similar to ours!

B-29 Doc is Coming
We are excited that Doc is coming to the HOA. Doc will be selling rides and cockpit tours September 6-8 at the Hangar. More Information to come. But first join wing member Dr. John Curatola as he presents B-29 Superfortress on Wednesday August 28 th at 7:00pm as part of the Heritage Speaker Series at the Hangar.

Watch for more Wing updates.

Stay informed. Get engaged!
