MESSAGE
FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Hello Summer…
Today is the last day of the school year. As I reflect back on this year, only one word comes to mind… gratitude. These past 15 months living in a pandemic has felt like a decade. But through it all, this community has stood together, taken care of one another, and most importantly, loved. Even with all the unknowns this year has brought, we made it. We made it safe and sound. We made it without any exposures or outbreaks. We made it with everyone doing their part individually for the collective good of all. From where I sit, I cannot ask for anything more.
We have been blessed and it is with that blessing that I wish everyone a safe Summer and I look forward to having the doors open again in August for the 21-22 school year. I also hope to see our alumni back on campus to continue to share and celebrate our beloved school.

In gratitude, we pray to St. Francis and St. Clare to continue to walk with us and faithfully guide us in our journeys. Have a great Summer!
Sincerely

On March 27, in partnership with St. Francis Parish, we held our Virtual 125th Anniversary Auction & Gala. Despite being virtual, the evening was a huge success. Dan Reynoso, our 8th grade teacher and Julissa Ortiz, Class of 91 from Good Day Sacramento managed our Live Auction with lots of laughter and fun. Fingers crossed that our next auction in November will be in-person! Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, sponsored and volunteered in the auction.

In May we held our annual Jog-A-Thon. Classes ran for 30 minutes during their PE time. Students who remained on distance learning ran with their families during the weekend. Every student wore t'shirts with artwork from the student who won our t'shirt competition and sponsors were listed on the back. Our students ran their hearts out!
Thank you to all of the sponsors, our families and wider community for donating and sponsoring this fundraising event.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT - ISABELLA SULLIVAN-POWERS, CLASS OF 2012
|
|
Isabella Powers graduated from St. Francis Elementary in 2012. She has great memories of her time there as a student and certainly made the most of all the extra curricular opportunities. She served on the student council as President her 8th grade year and Religious Commissioner in 7th grade. Isabella was also involved in Drama Club and remembers acting in The Patchwork Girl of Oz and Annie. Isabella also enjoyed the academic enrichment opportunities at St. Francis; she was on the Academic Decathlon Team, Religious Decathlon Team, Math Decathlon Team, and Speech Team. Isabella served as an altar server and felt grateful to have that opportunity to give back to the school and church. Isabella cannot forget her time in choir! While she claims to not be musically inclined, she loved practices with Mrs. Stites, who always had a positive attitude and made choir fun! She enjoyed being on the cross country team and cheering at meets with her classmates.
Isabella’s favorite part of her time at St. Francis was a close-knit community and supportive teachers. She said that all of her teachers made St. Francis feel like a second home. Mrs. Church constantly inspired Isabella and her classmates to find the beauty in science, Mrs. Stites offered grace to each student and made religion class fun and engaging, Mrs. Pressburg-Nevans made history exciting and Drama Club a fun way for students to gain confidence. Isabella is grateful for each of her teachers at St. Francis as they all made a lasting impact on her.
Isabella has fond memories of the Back to School BBQ and loved dressing up in plaid shirts and cowboy hats, running around with her classmates, and playing games. This was always such a fun time for the students to get together and she loved when they would all dance together to the music playing loud on the playground.
Isabella graduated from Creighton University in 2020 with a major in Health Administration and Policy and a minor in Leadership. She is currently finishing up her Master’s at Creighton this year, where she will receive her Master of Science in Medical Sciences, on the Clinical Anatomy Track. After graduation, Isabella looks forward to being back in Sacramento and returning to the St. Francis Community.

Congratulations to the Class of 2021! Welcome to our latest alumni class.
They started the year on distance and then when safe to do so, reverted to in-person/distance. Our 8th grade graduating class managed to have an in-person socially distanced Baccalaureate Mass and graduation in the church. Afterwards a small reception was held, where photos were taken, memories exchanged and goodbyes were given.
Despite the challenges faced this year, they have worked hard and had the best 8th grade year possible.
