 Dean Goes Virtual:
As the world tries to cope with the effects of COVID-19, at Dean College we're doing all that we can to ensure the safety and well-being of our Community. Last month, the College made the decision to move all classes and events to a virtual environment. Our non-essential faculty and staff are all working from home, and together we all continue to strive to deliver The Dean Difference . Read on to see how we're engaging with students and alumni in our new virtual environments.
Virtual Classrooms:
We asked some of our students to share feedback on their virtual classes and new study space. We wanted to know how they're coping, what new learning tools they're using and how they overcome challenges.

Virtual On-boarding
Earlier this month, Dean welcomed George Martin as our new Director of Athletics. Martin will lead the College’s athletic program, which has 16 intercollegiate teams participating in the NCAA Division III. Although not on campus, Martin has already made an impact virtually, meeting with staff and coaches to plan for next fall.

“I am thankful to all for the opportunity that has been given to me. I am excited to be a Bulldog and begin working with the athletic department, the Dean Community and most importantly, our student-athletes. I am looking forward to being part of The Dean Difference ,” says Martin.

Currently a member of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) for all sports excluding football, Dean College will become the newest full core member institution in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), beginning with the 2020-21 academic year. Dean College football will continue to participate in the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC).

Be Mindful
This month, MaryAnn Silvestri '90, Director of Counseling at Dean College, shared some tips on getting through these challenging times . She shared advice on managing stress and anxiety, taking time to be mindful and how music can boost your mood.

Student Support Fund
We have been asked by numerous people how they can help current students during this time of uncertainty and unexpected financial hardships caused by COVID-19. We have heard that a number of our students are being faced with unexpected expenses and difficult personal hardships, and we know others will return to campus in the fall with an increased need for financial aid.

We have a fund at Dean that is used for these pressing student needs—the Student Support Fund . This fund is used when a student is facing a financial hardship that may keep them from returning to Dean. This fund is also used if a student cannot afford books or technology. Right now, and in the coming days, we are going to be relying on this fund more and more to enable us to respond to this situation with agility and ensure that our students have everything they need to be successful.
