Letter from the ACVA president
March 2019

Hello dear friends of ACVA!

Hope this note finds you and your families doing well. So, here we are on the verge of some major planetary shifts. Isn’t it wonderful that we have the wise voice of the grahas available to help guide us through these strange and wonderful times? I for one am grateful every day that we have access to the navigation tools provided for our use, in the form of the movements of the planets. Since you’re reading this, you probably feel the same way. Bless the hearts and minds of the teachers who taught us the meaning of the planets!

The Nodal Axis Change– Rahu in Gemini and Ketu in Sagittarius

The Nodal Axis Change-Rahu in Gemini and Ketu in Sagittarius

by Vashaspati Christina Collins

Rahu and Ketu, the nodes of Chandra, the Moon represent Karmas. Karmas are the “law of action – what goes out returns”.

The nodes are Upagrahas (upa is shadow, graha is planet – so an Upagraha is a shadow grabber.) Just as graha’s grab energy onto themselves, so do the nodes and they are given full weight as planets in Jyotish. But, not quite the power as they do not have their own houses or “rule” houses. But they do have houses (the experiences here on earth) where they prefer to reside. Rahu is exalted in Taurus, and Ketu in Scorpio. The nodes belong to the Moon or Chandra, and Rahu exalts in Rohini, the Moon’s nakshatra at 20 degrees. The Moon also exalts in Taurus at 3 degrees Krittika, the Sun’s nakshatra. The Moon reflects the Sun.

The Observatory
Vernal Equinox Edition 2019

Compiled by Charlotte Benson (Jyoti Devi)

Welcome to the Vernal Equinox, with the temporary equilibrium between the light and the dark, in both the Northern and the Southern hemispheres. This season celebrates the return of light and life for many cultures, through observances of the holy days of Easter, Passover, and Ramadan.

This quarter begins with our Sun in the sign of a friend, in Pisces, Uttara Bhadrapada nakshatra. There is also a full Moon, super Moon on the day of the Equinox. Mercury is retrograde in Aquarius. Five different planets/grahas are at the very end of signs.

ACVA New Learning Management System in Action!
T he new ACVA Learning Management System (LMS) is up and running! ACVA and Blackboard have partnered to offer a high-performance hosted environment that provides improved service levels and a more enjoyable learning experience.

Carrying the traditions of this educational institution, the advantages and benefits of this new learning platform are available to students of all countries by way of a faster, simpler, and advanced online learning tool. Our dedicated volunteers Charlotte Benson, Christina Collins, Angela Pennington, Shoba Mohan, Karina Weil and Swati Tipnis have joined forces in building and producing these innovative Jyotisha online courses.

While learning has become more expeditious, the essence has remained pure. The material offered are not mere repetitions of second-hand knowledge. They are based on the actual shastras channeled and compiled by the Jyotisha maharishis.

Such initiatives and improvements are only possible through your generous and kind donations. In order for ACVA to continue to carry on its mission to divulge the sacred science of Jyotisha, we ask that you consider giving to this worthy cause as part of your tax donations, and help preserve “Levacy’s Legacy.”

With unreserved gratitude,

ACVA Board of Directors
