Press of the West
Premiers
Thursday, April 16th
7:30 pm on Rocky Mountain PBS

“Press of the West” – A printing press in the Old West was considered to be a “civilizer.” So when the newspaper in the tiny town of Mancos imported a high-end printer from back East in 1911, it was the beginning of a real community. 100 years after the Cranston Press first hit Mancos, a wild twist of fate led to its re-discovery and restoration. Now this incredibly rare press is back – creating a new community.

We are here to help!
In response to the COVID-19 crisis and the need for crisis leadership in our local business communities, the Cortez, Dolores and Mancos Chambers of Commerce have teamed up to create the Montezuma Business Task Force (MBT). This task force will consist of key organizations and community and business leaders: Region 9 Economic Development, the Mesa Verde Country Tourism Office, county and city officials and administrators, grant writing and fundraising professionals, and local business advocates. We have two major areas of focus: Immediate crisis and business support and future economic and business development ideas for our county. During the COVID-19 crisis, the taskforce will be focusing on ways to connect businesses with various types of loans and grants locally, statewide and federally, and telling our congressmen how they can help businesses best in Montezuma County.

Sales Tax Deadline Extension
One-Month Extension for Filing and Remitting State and State-Administered Local Sales Tax
Colorado retailers that are required to file a sales tax return and remit sales tax on April 20, 2020 may extend their filing and remittance deadline to May 20, 2020. This is a one-time extension of the April 20, 2020 filing and remittance deadline for state and state-administered sales taxes. The extension does not apply to  self-collecting home-rule taxing jurisdictions .
The Department will waive penalties and interest that may accrue retailers that file their return and remit the full amount of state and state-administered sales tax due April 20, 2020 on or before May 20, 2020.
However, a retailer that does not file the return and remit full payment on or before April 20, 2020 will not be able to retain their  vendor/service fee . The vendor fee is a percentage of the sales tax collected that a retailer is allowed to retain in order to cover the expenses incurred by collecting and remitting state sales tax. The vendor fee is currently 4% of the sales tax remitted and is capped at $1,000 per filing period.
