CSUSB Palm Desert Campus students gain global perspective through transformative study abroad trip to Switzerland and Italy


Hospitality management students from the California State University, San Bernardino Palm Desert Campus (PDC) recently returned from an immersive short-term international study experience across Switzerland and Italy, where classroom learning came to life through cultural exploration, global engagement and meaningful human connection.

Berger Foundation grant expands food access for students at the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus


The California State University, San Bernardino Palm Desert Campus has received a $25,000 Impact Grant from the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation to enhance food access for students facing food insecurity.


This funding will strengthen the campus’s existing DEN Food Pantry and support the addition of a new grab-and-go food refrigerator.

CSUSB ranked among nation’s best colleges for social mobility by Wall Street Journal


Cal State San Bernardino earned the No. 2 spot in the nation for social mobility in The Wall Street Journal/College Pulse Social Mobility ranking, a recognition of the university’s commitment to student success and its role in helping students define their futures.

CSUSB launches new Net Price Calculator tool to help students estimate college costs


The new Net Price Calculator, which can be accessed on the university homepage, makes it easier for students to estimate tuition, fees and overall cost of attendance. 

I ❤️CA Dream Act


The I ❤️ CA Dream Act campaign promotes safe financial aid opportunities, information and support for undocumented students to be empowered and equipped to pursue their educational goals.

CSUSB launches Doctor of Nursing Practice program in fall 2026


Applications are now being accepted for the program, designed to prepare registered nurses with a BSN for Family Nurse Practitioner certification and the highest level of professional nursing practice.

Cal State San Bernardino celebrates Arab American Heritage Month throughout April


Arab American Heritage Month is designed to celebrate the rich histories, cultures and contributions of Arab Americans.

Asian Pacific Islander Desi American heritage celebrated at CSUSB in April


Nationally, Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Heritage Month is celebrated during the month of May, but because the university has a short month due to finals and spring commencement ceremonies, CSUSB starts its celebration in April. 

Faculty Spotlight - Lacey Kendall


Lacey Kendall is a faculty member at PDC in the Department of Communication & Media and serves as the station manager of the campus's radio station PAWS Radio. With more than 40 years of radio experience, Lacey brings hands-on learning to her students.


Lacey was recently featured on KESQ News Channel 3, where she shared her expertise on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is shaping our environment, how educators are addressing AI use in the classroom, and how we can all use AI responsibly.

Recent Events

The OneFuture Coachella Valley Male Student Leadership Conference took place at the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus on March 20 - an event designed to support male high school and college students in making meaningful progress in school, career and life. Throughout the day, attendees gained valuable tools and insights on:


• Planning for college and career

• Building daily habits that support their goals

• Finding mentorship and expanding their networks

• Accessing financial resources

• Creating a vision for the future and building a lasting legacy

The CSUSB Palm Desert Campus hosted its annual Communication Day on April 15, welcoming more than 50 students from CSUSB and College of the Desert. 


The event was led by our outstanding PDC COMM faculty, and a highlight of the event was the alumni panel.


Students asked thoughtful, engaging questions, and our alumni delivered insightful, inspiring perspectives on their career journeys.


The conversation didn’t stop there—many students stayed afterward to connect one-on-one and continue the discussion in a more informal setting.

The CSUSB Career Center's "Work Local: Industry Immersion Day" event took place at the Coachella Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) on April 15 - where a group of CSUSB Palm Desert Campus students gained valuable insight into applying for opportunities within the district.


CVUSD professionals provided real-world perspectives on careers in education and public service, covering:


• Employment opportunities within the district

• Organizational structure, hiring processes, and timelines

• Common application mistakes—and how to avoid them

• Strategies for building strong resumes and cover letters

• Interview preparation and employer expectations

• The importance of references and professional conduct

• Industry-specific qualifications and workforce competencies

• Early career pathways, internships, and professional growth opportunities


This event gave students a meaningful opportunity to connect directly with professionals who are making an impact in our region—and to better understand what today’s employers are truly looking for.

The PDC Kinesiology Student Association hosted its first-ever National Biomechanics Day event on April 8.


To celebrate, they organized a vertical jump competition as a fundraiser for the club.


Students tested their explosive power using their Just Jump mat - each participant received one free jump, with additional attempts available for just $1 each.


Vertical jump heights were recorded, and the top male and female jumpers took home prizes for their impressive performances.

The fundraiser was a success and has laid the groundwork for this event to become an annual tradition.
