Dear Camp Families,

Happy Fall! Has it really been almost 11 weeks since the last bus of campers pulled out of camp on August 11th? We hope everyone enjoyed the end of summer and is having a great start to the school year. Things have been busy at camp since our campers and staff left. We welcomed a few college groups for overnight retreats in mid and late August. Cliffside Lodge also hosted several weddings this Fall. It is nice having activity at camp but it is just not the same as having our North Star family together for the camp season.

Earlier in October, Steven spent a few days at camp to close up the property with Brenden and to continue planning facility projects for next summer. The fall foliage is just beautiful this time of year.

Both of us will be on the road each month visiting with new and returning families and recruiting staff. If we are in your area, we will let you know and would enjoy visiting with as many North Star families as possible. We are planning a number of Pop-Up Socials at ice cream parlors and restaurants in the areas we are visiting so our North Star campers can reconnect and see us.

If you haven't re-enrolled for 2019 don't delay much longer. Some of our cabins are almost full, especially during Session 2. If you have any questions about the the upcoming camp season, contact us by phone or e-mail at your convenience.

Warm regards,

Brooke and Steven
2018 Highlights
There were a number of capital improvement projects that either expanded or created new program areas that our campers enjoyed all summer long.

The largest and biggest undertaking was the construction of three new high rope elements including a 36-foot climbing wall with an overhang. Next to the climbing wall, campers challenged themselves on two vertical high elements - swinging logs and pipe dreams. Next summer, we will be adding more elements to continue to challenge our campers.

Mountain Biking made a return to North Star with a new fleet of bikes and a 1.5 mile dirt trail that starts behind the Farmhouse at the front of our property and ends at the soccer fields. North Star campers asked for more trails and we are going to build 2 new ones in 2019.

We also cleared a space between the large campfire ring and The Line for a formal Campfire Cooking area with seven individual campfire circles. Campers enjoyed learning to cook on an open campfire.

Stay tuned to see what's new in store for 2019.
What's Cooking
Each week in our Culinary Arts classes, campers cook delectable dishes in a variety of cuisines. It is a hands-on class that allows each camper the opportunity to make recipes from scratch. Some of the favorites from last summer were sushi, Swedish meatballs, pizza and cookies. During Session 3, campers were treated to a week of chocolate and candy making thanks to our Artist-in-Residence, Cricket Snearing. We hope our North Star families enjoy the attached 2018 North Star Recipe Book so everyone can enjoy these recipes at home.
Camp T-Shirt Day - November 13th
International Camp T-Shirt Day is coming up on Tuesday, November 13. We want all of our campers to show their North Star spirit by wearing their favorite T-Shirt, Sweatshirt or other CNS swag. Take a photo of yourself and email it to us at info@campnorthstarmaine.com and tag us on instagram @cnsmaine. Watch our Instagram and Facebook pages to see all of the photos posted that we receive that day from CNS campers and staff.
