A NOTE FROM SUPERVISOR LEAH VALENTI
It's Easter weekend, a time for reflecting on the challenges of our past and celebrating the gratitude we hold for our many blessings. The 2024 Presidential Preference Primary (PPP) Election in Charlotte County was a huge success! Overall, 23.09% of eligible voters turned out which put Charlotte County in the top third in the state for turnout! I want to express my immense gratitude to the 268 Election Workers who made Early Voting and Election Day seamless for voters. I am proud of each of my staff who worked tirelessly to ensure every ballot that was cast was accounted for, free, fair, and accurate!
We mailed out over 11,000 Vote-By-Mail ballots and received 9,053 for processing. Between March 4th and March 17th, 4,315 people voted early, while on Election Day 4,210 people showed up to their assigned polling locations. In March, we also recognized two students who won the Charlotte High School "I Voted" sticker contest. Many of you had the opportunity to adorn their artwork as you voted. This is a tradition we plan on continuing for the youth of Charlotte County to be actively engaged in the voting process.
Looking ahead, the Primary Election will be held on August 20th, and every registered voter in Charlotte County will be able to participate. It's a good time to ensure your voter registration information is up to date, including your current signature, name (if you've recently changed it), and address if you've moved within the county.
