This Sunday

Come to worship this Sunday at 11:00 a.m. in English or 1:00 p.m. in Spanish. During this time of the church year we hit a little dry spell where there are no holidays on the church calendar to celebrate. So to liven up the calendar a little, this Sunday we will be celebrating Thanksgiving in August! We will do so as we read the Gospel story of Jesus feeding the five thousand in the wilderness. We will hear the message that Jesus provides abundance in a place that is usually barren. The story gives us a chance to reflect on the richness of our lives and the abundance of blessings we have received from God in the midst of the many challenges we face in our daily lives.  God is great and generous! It is our job to notice.  See you Sunday!

Ven a la misa este domingo a las 11:00 h en inglés o a las 13:00 h en español. En esta época del año litúrgico atravesamos un pequeño parón en el que no hay fiestas que celebrar en el calendario eclesiástico. Así que, para animar un poco el calendario, ¡este domingo celebraremos el Día de Acción de Gracias en agosto! Lo haremos mientras leemos el relato evangélico en el que Jesús alimenta a los cinco mil en el desierto. Escucharemos el mensaje de que Jesús proporciona abundancia en un lugar que suele ser árido. La historia nos brinda la oportunidad de reflexionar sobre la riqueza de nuestras vidas y la abundancia de bendiciones que hemos recibido de Dios en medio de los numerosos retos a los que nos enfrentamos en nuestro día a día. ¡Dios es grande y generoso! Last week we informed you of an appeal to benefit one of our newer members Heli Huovinen and her family. We have some good news to report, as Heli is out of the hospital and recuperating at home. However, Heli is dealing with several chronic issues and the costs associated with the health care she is receiving. Her family is in dire need of any financial assistance you can provide. If you are able to help, please write a check to Amazing Grace, and note on the check that you want to support Heli. We will aggregate the financial support, and then Amazing Grace will forward your generosity to the Huovinen family.

Pam Donahue is progressing well in a rehabilitation facility recovering from a fall. She is scheduled to come home this week. Fred Hoefler continues to face challenges following a stroke. Fred needs our prayers, as he undergoes rehabilitation. Please continue praying for Kay McKenny’s mother, Bob Lee (Parkinson’s disease), and Al Pichetto’s son who is looking for a new job.
