Myths and realities of autonomy: UIC Urban Forum
AutonomouStuff Director of Product Engineering Joe Buckner joined a panel of private sector and public policy experts at the UIC Urban Forum in Chicago to discuss the myths and realities of autonomous vehicle deployment.

With investment in automation flowing into closed systems such as mining and freight operations, advancements will naturally follow in open systems such as those encompassing autonomous vehicles on public roads, Joe explained. Driving all of it are tech developments that allow vehicles and infrastructure to be connected and collaborative in unprecedented ways , with safety and efficiency as prime areas where gains will be phenomenal.

Joe and other panelists additionally tackled one other topic at the urging of moderator Jerry Quandt of the Illinois Autonomous Vehicles Association: What will happen to all the people whose livelihood depends on driving in an age of mature autonomy?

Products
Product highlight: Delphi MRR
The  Delphi MRR  (medium-range radar) is used to detect targets (pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, cars, trucks) ahead of a host vehicle. The Delphi MRR system is intended for a variety of automotive applications including adaptive cruise control, driver alert and collision mitigation functions.

AutonomouStuff also creates purpose-built radar enclosuresthe only enclosures designed to protect autonomy sensors in the world's most demanding environments. Our enclosures, which have been tested and proven in challenging applications such as mining operations, are available and in stock.

We have a talented team who supports these products and can provide training. We currently have Delphi MRR sensors in stock and ready to ship.

Meet the team: Cameron Brown
We're turning to one of the newest members of the AutonomouStuff team for an introduction this month. Cameron Brown has a passion for robotics that has taken him to national and international autonomous vehicle and drone competitions around the United States. He is putting that experience and a Master's Degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh to work as our newest autonomous software specialist.

"I became absolutely fascinated by AVs when I first saw an autonomous Uber in person in Pittsburgh," Cameron says. "What attracted me is that it's one of the hardest engineering problems in the world, and I wanted to be a part of it . I like AutonomouStuff's unique place in the market and I feel I can make a contribution here!"

Innovation at AutonomouStuff thrives on that type of enthusiasm. Thank you, Cameron!
