Lightning-fast support: joining the Indy Autonomous Challenge
AutonomouStuff and NovAtel, both companies in Hexagon's Autonomy & Positioning brand portfolio, have announced their support for the Indy Autonomous Challenge, the $1.5M university prize competition to program modified Dallara IL-15 race cars and compete in the world’s first autonomous head-to-head race at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

With speeds in excess of 200 mph and the engineering challenges that must be overcome in order to reach them autonomously, the event is expected to be a landmark achievement in the autonomy research realm — akin to the DARPA Challenge and its introduction of autonomous technology to an urban landscape.

By supporting teams consisting of more than 500 students, AutonomouStuff and NovAtel are:
  • directly impacting development of technology for next-generation mobility.
  • giving the engineers of tomorrow open access to cutting-edge equipment and expertise.
  • advancing autonomous capabilities into the high-speed realm.

The checkered flags will drop in October 2021. Get full details on how AutonomouStuff and NovAtel are involved in the press release announcing the entry of both Hexagon companies.

What's happening at AutonomouStuff?
Meet the team: Dan Stanek
Principal Software Engineer Dan Stanek develops code that makes sensors work together and with automotive systems in autonomous driving software stacks. Whether through software such as AutonomouStuff's Speed and Steering Control or in algorithms for object detection and classification, Dan's work is at the heart of enabling, accelerating and deploying next-generation technology.

"I enjoy working at a such a fast-paced company. Even after having worked here for four years, there's always new challenges, new things to learn," Dan said. "It helps keep me young, which is good after having worked in R&D at other companies for 20 years prior to coming here."

We love it when our team finds fresh challenges — and the excitement that comes with solving them!

Webinar recap: Open Autonomy Pilot
The Open Autonomy Pilot at AutonomouStuff launched in the summer of 2019 in order to create an optimal research platform for developers driving the next generation of autonomous vehicle technology,

Vice President of Products and Services John Buszek hosted our most recent webinar on how OAP has evolved and what capabilities have expanded in our state-of-the-art platforms as a result.

By integrating various autonomous driving software stacks — each with different parameters for tailored approaches to applications — AutonomouStuff has created an ideal space for development, including a simulated environment for a complete workflow.

A recording of the webinar is now available for on-demand viewing our YouTube channel.
