Stories Of The Heart

As told by Kate and Dean McCracken

After their beloved uncle, Bryan Ingram, passed away at Andy’s House in January 2024, Kate and Dean McCracken’s children were inspired to honour his memory in a special way.

With the support of their parents, they embarked on a meaningful fundraising effort to give back to Andy’s House, the place that had provided such comfort in Bryan’s final days. The family asked friends and loved ones for donations to Hospice Muskoka–Andy’s House and, as a token of gratitude, gifted them with small bottles of maple syrup they had prepared from the past season’s harvest.

“This donation was made possible by all our friends and family, in honour of Bryan Ingram,” shared Kate and Dean.

“Our kids helped bottle up little jars of maple syrup that we made this past season, and asked for donations for Andy's House, and gave them a bottle of syrup as a thank you. In return, we gave each donor a bottle of syrup as a thank-you. We are thrilled to donate $1,250 to Andy's House and want to continue our fundraising efforts in the years to come.”

This heartfelt tribute not only honours Bryan’s memory but also supports an organization that brought their family comfort. Their hope is to continue these efforts in the years to come, ensuring that others receive the same compassionate care that meant so much to them.

The Adventures of Smitty, Bella, and Cream Puff: Muskoka Maple Season

By John Graham

Local author John Graham’s late father-in-law passed away at Andy’s House in September 2022, inspiring this beautiful children’s book written in his honour.

The Adventures of Smitty, Bella, and Cream Puff: Muskoka Maple Season follows the journey of Smitty, his loyal dog Bella, and vintage tractor Cream Puff as they explore the magic of maple syrup production, culminating in a vibrant community festival.

More than just a story about making maple syrup, this delightful tale celebrates friendship, the wonder of nature, and encourages children to explore the world around them, cherish relationships, and believe in the power of dreams—big or small.

Words From The Heart

opening quotation mark

A dear family friend received the most wonderful care at Andy's House. Her family was so grateful their mom left life in such warm, caring hands.

I just want to thank you and all of the staff at Andy‘s house. The time Mom was there I did not bump into anyone that was anything other than absolutely sincere and professional. I can’t tell you enough how much my father appreciated everyone’s kindness.
